“Lovely hotel with an amazing view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Liechtenstein at this hotel. The room was a reasonable size, clean and had a TV. Even better was the view from the balcony, which was incredible! The place had the feel of a cozy wooden chalet in the mountains, but had all of the conveniences you could need. The centre of Vaduz and beyond can be reached by regular bus services. I would be happy to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms on the back side of the hotel facing towards the mountains in the west have a fantastic vi...

The hotel has great views over the Rhine valley. We asked for a room with a view and were not disappointed. The day before we arrived it had snowed in Liechtenstein, so there was still some snow left near the hotel when we arrived.

Our room was very tidy, spacious enough for a double bed (well, two single beds put together), a closet, a chair with a coffee table and a little desk. The room had a real 'Alpine' feel with lots of wooden furniture and a lovely scent of wood. We also had a small balcony overlooking the valley where we sat during our weekend in Liechtenstein soaking in the autumn sun.
The bathroom was nice as well with an adequate shower box.

TV was quite small and to be honest we only turned it on once, it had a couple of English channels too. WIFI was OK, though the lady had misspelled the WIFI passcode so it took us over an hour to work out why our laptop wouldn't connect to the Internet.

We tried their restaurant and were more than satisfied with the service and food provided.
Breakfast was amazing, with a varied selection of sweet, savoury food, lots of nice local breads, fresh fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee etc.

The hotel (and the restaurant) weren't cheap, but given the location and the service provided we really cannot complain. One thing I will say is that I found the main lady at reception to be quite "standoffish", I don't know if this was due to a little language barrier or what, but she really didn't seem too happy to speak to us.

About the location... we found Triesenberg to be a lovely area to be in. You're basically in the middle of Liechtenstein, so you can easily go further north or south by catching the bus (not cheap either, so if you're using it a lot get a day pass). We went higher up to Malbun where there was a LOT of snow and enjoyed walking in the snow up to a little chapel there.
Then we went to Vauz, walked around and visited the castle, from there on to Schaan... you get the picture! Triesenberg is a lovely village which is conveniently situated and feels less "touristy" than areas around Vaduz.

My wife, 2 year old son, and I were travelling from Germany to Italy. We decided to stop in Liechtenstein to put another check in the box of places we have been. The hotel is in a great location. The GPS didn't have the address or hotel name in its memory, so I had to pick a adjoining road (used google maps to find it) to get us close. Its obvious other had difficulty, because once we got near the hotel there where signs to help. Wonderful location, and when the clouds where out great views! The staff was very helpful and welcoming. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel and enjoyed both meals. The rooms are above average for Europe. The two issues we found: 1) it was loud (music with base and walking noises) until about 11pm and the pillows where like stones. I didn't sleep well because I couldn't find a way to make the pillow comfortable. My wife suffered the same issue. My son slept great in the crib they left for him. If not for the noise and pillows I would rate this location higher.

This review is a bit late (October 2011 but it won't let me choose this date) but I wanted to get it on here eventually.

Hotel Kulm is a wonderful place to stay and anyone thinking of visiting Liechtenstein should definitely considering staying here.

The staff are friendly, the rooms aren't massive but spacious enough and are clean, warm and comfortable. Make sure you book a Rhine Valley view because the sight from your balcony, especially at sun set, is out of this world!!

A very large choice of food and drink is available as part of their continental breakfast; we didn't sample the afternoon or evening menus but they looked very nice.

The yellow Liechtenstein bus stops right outside the hotel which can take you higher in to the mountains or back down towards Vaduz. There's not much in Triesenberg but there are some little shops, the Walser Museum and a very nice church.

This was my second visit to Liechtenstein and I guarantee that Hotel Kulm will be the first on my list the next time I plan to return.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a Rhine Valley room

As all previous reviewers, have mentioned, the location of the hotel in amazing. It sits near the top of a mountain and the views from the balcony are beautiful.

The room was very basic, ridiculously overpriced compared to Europe, but reasonably priced for Liechtenstein. The bathroom was clean, albeit a bit small. It had a hair dryer, but no shower gel, shampoo or shower caps.

Breakfast was excellent on our first morning - wonderful selection of cheeses, breads and fruit (this was a Saturday). On Sunday, though, the breakfast room was packed with what seemed to be locals coming for a fancy late breakfast at a "posh" location. There was more food than the previous day - both in terms of quantity and variety, but alas, not of the same quality.

Dinner at the restaurant was great. Try the potato soup with truffel and the venison with cranberry sauce.

The one problem we had was the internet connection. It seemed to live a life of its own - came and went every couple of minutes. My husband's Android phone and laptop were less affected, but getting online from an iPhone/ iPad was a nightmare, their router obviously did not like Apple products. If you need an internet connection, make sure you have an Android or Windows device.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view over the valley

I stayed here for 1 night in September and was very pleasantly surprised. For starters, great location. It sits on the side of the mountain overlooking the whole picturesque valley and is only a 10 minute drive from downtown Vaduz. The hotel has access to a covered parking garage which is a nice perk if you’re driving. The hotel itself is outdated but still charming. Even more charming is the staff—who are helpful, friendly, and informative. We had electrical plug problems and they had not problem lending us an adaptor for the duration of our stay. The rooms are spacious and probably could use a renovation, but are adequate. Our bathroom was large, the living space was much larger than most European hotels, WiFi wasn't an issue, and the TV was really tiny and located in an awkward place in the room.

This is the place for you if you’re looking for a hotel with a good location, at a reasonable price, and a fantastic staff. You won’t get a lot of perks or modern décor, but you will get a safe and pleasant nights rest.

The hotel is located in the center of the small village and easy to find. But at first you have to drive up to the hill on quite narrow roads.
The check in was no problem and the staff very freindly.
Our room was spacious but the furniture looked a little bit older, but not used. Unfortnatly they forgot to turn the heating on so it was quite cold when we entered the room. Our room was towards the valley so we had a fantastic view from the hill.
The restaurant was very good. Manily the serve game which tried the first time. The dessert was very special, a kind of pancakes with fruites which was freshly made and flambeed at our table.
