This is my favourite restaurant in Liechtenstein. It's not cheap, but then nothing is in this wonderful Principality. The owner is said to be temperamental... but then aren't all Italian restaurateurs? I have found him to be very helpful and most professional – as is his sister. The restaurant (inside the **** Hotel Hofbalzers) is low key... except for Leonardo's 'Last Supper' on the end wall. On my last visit with three friends I had the asparagus risotto, which was absolutely wonderful – but it was the asparagus season (late April) so it may not always be on the menu. I followed this with the thin slices of fillet steak which cook on a (very hot) plate in front of you, so you can control the cooking as you wish. I accompanied this with spinach and potato. Sheer perfection... but at a price! It was in the region of CHF56... but well worth it. We washed this down with a fine Amarone at about CHF105. The special dessert (which I don't think is on their menu...) is a vodka sorbet. Also excellent. Well worth a visit for the very best in Italian fayre. £100 per head.
