The companero has a great location and a great ambiente (but this is mainly due to the people that come here).
The drinks are good and not too expensive, but you can skip the food. The tapas are not bad, but all deep fried and not exactly a selection you would expect when you go to a spanish restaurant. Not much fresh ingredients are used (not that it's perished food, but it's little vegetables or fresh fish or meat).
Waiters are nice, but slow serving. I guess they are not layd out to have a big crowd eating there.
Basically if you want to come here for a "one two" session it's perfectly located and I promise it's going to be fun. At night people are even standing in the streets and talking.
Cheers!

I've ate here a couple of times and always come out of the restaurant disappointed, the location is great, the bar has a good atmosphere, but the food is really not good and there are a number of dishes you can tell have been taken out of the freezer and thrown in the deep fat fryer. We also had three rounds of piso sours, all tasting very different from each other - which didn't help to wash down the poor quality dishes. If they used fresh ingredients, put a little more care into cooking and being more consistent with their cocktails then this could be a great spot for tapas as there is nowhere else in the centre of town that does tapas. This time I will not be returning.

It is nice to have a drink in the small terrace just in front of the door. There are nice cocktails. However, I would not recommend it for dinner, "tapas" are very small and expensive as well. It is not a Spanish restaurant.

Confused by recent reviews; we went last week and had excellent food & service. Did not expect Michelin standards or even perhaps totaly authentic fare but we enjoyed really good Tex Mex. Maybe that's not what El C is trying for but we had no regrets!
