We visited over Memorial Day weekend, and it is a beautiful reminder of our fallen, including General Patton. Also worth checking out the German cemetery down the road.

And make you think of the thousands of fallen men, women and children. The rows and rows of crosses on neatly manicured lawn are a stunning reminder of the waste of war.

A must for history buffs (esp. WW II). A 10 minute walk from bus stop -. Just follow the signs when alighting from the bus.

After a long day in Luxembourg City, we were not expecting to visit the Luxembourg American Cemetery Memorial, but when we drove past, we just pulled in and couldn't have been happier that we had. Although it was closing time and the gates were in the process of closing for the night, a incredibly kind man, who was a war veteran, reopened the gates for us. When he heard we were from America, he said we just had to have a tour. Although we thought it would only be a quick stop, we ended up staying for almost 2 hours with this man who was so passionate about the cemetery and told us many powerful stories of the fallen soldiers. I have never met someone who has as much love and passion for his job, the cemetery, and the war as he had.The entire cemetery is extremely well taken care of and so beautiful and we were so glad that we did not pass up this gem.

As sad as it is to see the graves of so many fallen soldiers, including those "known but to God", there is a peacefulness in seeing them honored in such beautiful and well-maintained surroundings.
