“Honored American vet!”

I would not have believed that American soldiers would have been so honored, as in this military cemetery in Luxembourg. If you serve your country now, or ever served, you will understand this care and dignity paid to those brave soldiers. Gen. Patton's son, also a Brigadier General, is buried here, with and in front of his men. The chapel plays music perpetually, and the bells strike every hour in a particular way. The history of the battle and why those courageous US Army soldiers died to liberate Luxembourg has been more than adequately captured. Well worth the visit!

I must compliment the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), the organization that takes care of overseas cemetaries. The cemetary is well-cared for and beautiful. GEN Patton is buried here, looking over his troops, but other than a chain around his grave, it's not glorified in any way. There is an information shack that can provide you with general information, and more-specific information, if needed.

Touching experience. For those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, I salute you.

Another sanctuary to think of past sacrifice. The US Cemeteries across Europe and the US are some of the most beautiful and thought provoking places on Earth! You cannot visit these sites without a sense of awe and a lump in the throat! Long may they be retained in such fantastic condition!

As a student I was taught quite a bit about WWII but clearly not enough as I had no knowledge of this cemetary until a friend recommended it. It is 1.5 miles from the German cemetary and together represent a lot of loss. As others have mentioned it contains the remains of General Patton though he died from a vehicle accident in Mannheim, he wanted to be buried with his fellow troops when his time came. The cemetary is very somber and a bit overwhelming. There is adequate free parking and "WC" facilities on site. I highly recommend this addition to your agenda.
