“Small hotel near the train station”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

Overall, the hotel looked cramped from the staircase to the room areas. When I entered the room, I faced a long narrow hallway. When I reached the end, there was another one before I reached the bed. It seems I had a J-shaped room with a view of the city street. The room was interesting because of this, but I would actually prefer a room that plays on space rather than one playing up different corners with two narrow hallways (entrance with the bathroom followed by the wardrobe area with a large cabinet leading to the room). But this is probably because I had a corner room (Room 24). The bed is very soft with small pillows, and summer duvets were provided on the twin beds. (But I still felt a bit too warm during the night.)
Some other points:
- I liked the wooden floors.
- Bathroom a bit old but cleaned well.
- Breakfast buffet was sufficient
- Staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Wifi signal erratic.

We were in Luxembourg for several days. We wanted a hotel in the centre, near shops and walking distance to a few specific places that we needed to visit. This was the perfect location . It was near the station and a nice stroll to the main shopping district. There were also plenty of shops nearby.

When we arrived, I requested a room with a bathtub and they quickly obliged. The room was spacious enough for two and even had a nice little seating area. Everything was clean and the staff were very helpful.

The breakfast was good and had lots to offer including bacon, sausages and eggs, plus a very nice selection of tea. There were lots of TV channels in the rooms and several stations for various languages.

They were also quick to respond to my emails when I requested info. They even reserved the iron I requested and provided bathrobes and slippers to use in the sauna.

It was just what we were looking for.

Room Tip: Ask for a bathtub!

This hotel is a little overpriced since it hasnt been updated since the 90s (except the mini flatscreen). Bed is small and soft but was ok. Bathroom is tiny and very plastic-y. On the floor there's something that looks like carpet but is very hard. Its not well isolated, you hear the planes in the sky, the singing party people in the streets and the baby in the next (?) Room. The worst part for us was the smell: our room smelt like it hadnt been aired in years... and it smelt heavily of cigarettes which worsened (!) Trouhg the night. On the plus side: you get an apple.

A decent hotel with an attached bar. Couple of fast food restaurants are nearby to 'quench' an immediate hunger. It is also very near to the main station. Quick 10-15 mins would take you to old city and also the center of action.... However, it is hot inside the Hotel- simply hot. We failed to understand this! It was so kind of them to place a air-cooler in our room- but we could realise how difficult it would be to stay here in summer!

Room Tip: It is on a corner plot. Choose a room that doesn't open up towards the streets- to avoid sound a...

Forced by pressure on hotels in Luxembourg to look beyond my usual Luxembourg hotel, I found myself in the City Hotel for a couple of nights. Conveniently close to the station, the hotel is more than adequate, but pricey for what is on offer, in my case a room high in the roof, comfortable -- a room for three used by one. The hotel is agreeable, as a business hotel, and smoothly run -- in all a good addition to hotels in Luxembourg that serve the purposes of a business trip spent mainly outside the hotel.

Do not stay here in hot weather. It was 29C this August and there is no air-con.
Staff are very helpful, breakfast is fine, once you learn that the food cover is electrically operated.
Rooms are small, but the beds are OK. The shower is excellent, but the towels are getting old and thin.
The City Lounge bar was closed when we arrived at 8:00pm on a Sunday, because the barman was ill and there was no replacement, so we had to walk down to the Mercure for something to eat and drink. Might as well have stayed there in the first place.
This is more a hotel for a businessman rather than someone on holiday, and definitely not suitable for a longer stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a business trip.
The location is very convenient - right next to the main station.
However, when I stayed there the weather was very hot, and it was hard to sleep: there is no air conditioning, only a noisy fan, so it was very hot in the room, and the street noise is so loud that it's not possible to leave a window open. It was even quite noisy with the window closed.
The room was OK, clean, but felt quite worn and dated (e.g. the bed was not very comfortable and pillows were worn out).
