“Relaxed and welcoming”

Villa Vauban - Musee d'Art de la Ville de Luxembourg
Attraction details
Reviewed July 14, 2013

This museum is easy to access as it near a large bus terminal and close to the Monteray car park.
The museum itself is located in a beautiful and well maintained garden. Entry prices are as little as 3 euros for an adult and free for under 18s and students. All the staff are extremely polite and the displays are located in air-conditioned rooms with chairs. My only disappointment was that there were not that many displays though this does not matter as it is located near a number of cafes and restaurants making a trip to this museum a pleasant afternoon out.

Villa Vauban is not too far from the bus terminal Hamilius (this is just a local name, you won't find it on a street sign), which is at the end of one of the long streets of the "walking district". Look carefully on your map, because I took a bus to Rue Vauban, which is at the other end of the city!

Villa Vauban has a beautiful garden (park) where they often organize museum picnics. I saw the Breughel exibition, it was fantastic. My best museum experience so far. The guards are really nice, they'll show you the hidden displays if you don't notice them yourself. In each hall there are written guides in 3 languages.

You can put your baggage and stuff in lockers in the foyer. The only thing I missed was a museum shop. I had such a great time in Villan Vauban, I'd have loved to take something as a souvenir.

Villa Vauban also has a superbe Facebook Page, that is totally worth following.

Temporary expositions nicely integrated there. The building is really nice and renovated and the location is great, in a quiet park with lots of fresh air.

This villa was turned into an art museum and now has temporary
art exhibits from around Europe. I took in two different art exhibits but I believe they are changing every few months. Small but easy to follow and they had pamphlets in English which was a bonus.
