Le Royal Hotels & Resorts - Luxembourg
Ranked #2 of 49 Hotels in Luxembourg City

The hotel is the best in Luxembourg City, it is five-star, so you get what you pay for, but I think it could use some competition. Things are a little worn, the bedrooms certainly need a facelift (or something) and the decor is, well, drab to hideous? We had a small terrace, but the plastic furniture was filthy, we had to clean it before we sat on it, and the door handle to the terrace was about to come off. Prompt, attentive service everywhere, of course, nothing to find real fault with, but to tell you the truth ANYPLACE that wants to charge almost six Euro to wash a pair of socks ought to have a laundromat open right across the street.

My husband, 5 month old son and myself stayed four nights at this hotel. Honestly, we were disappointed at first when we saw our executive suite: 3-star hotel furniture, small bathroom, queen size bed.. We were upgraded to a 'royal club suite'. This suite came a bit closer to what one can expect from a 'Leading hotels of the world'-member.

The staff was incredible helpfull and friendly, they really (especially a lady from the reception whoms name I forgot, she also spoke 'Vlaams') made our stay!

My husband and I also booked a massage.. I'm really sorry to say, but it was the most awfull massage we ever got, not worth the € 155 (for one hour!!).

The food was ok.. not much choice for vegetarians though.

Maybe we are a bit spoiled, but in our opinion the hotel itself isnt worth 5 stars. The staff on the other hand are worth 10 stars, thank you so much for making our stay as pleasant as possible.

Le Royal Luxembourg is in a great location in Luxembourg situated between a pleasant park and the main shopping area. We were in an executive room and our daughter was in a traditional room as this was the only option we had with a late booking. The two rooms were a distance away from each other though that was not a problem for us. The executive rooms have a private lift and are, indeed, a bit more special than the traditional room but we would not have been disappointed with either for both rooms were lovely. Room service was excellent. We really felt this was a 5* hotel.

On our first night we planned to eat in Le Jardin restaurant. It was only by chance that we discovered that the other restaurant, La Pomme Cannelle, was closed over weekends. I am so glad we opted to eat there – though not cheap, our meal was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We ate in Le Jardin the following evening, sitting outside as the weather was so hot. It was good enough, but we had been spoiled the night before. On both nights we ended our evening by going to the Piano Bar where we enjoyed live music.

Breakfast was a bit of a let-down. There was a mix-up with our order on the first morning which only appeared finally just before the buffet closed. The buffet selection was good enough but nothing to write home about. Service at breakfast was not quite the same standard we had encountered in the evenings but I wouldn't lower the review service rating for the sake of this one area.

We used the indoor pool which was a reasonable size but there were a disappointing number of loungers available and we ended up leaving as soon as we had our swim.

I was disappointed at the reservation as they could not guarantee a double bed room, and for me that was a very poor service.
But arriving at the hotel everything was perfect. They are very friendly and helpful, we got a double bed room. The hotel offer a free shuttle to and from the airport and this is interesting to be considered as this hotel is expensive but that makes quite a difference as taxis are a rip off.
The location is great, very nice bar, restaurant and facilities, the breakfast was very good. Rooms are nice, clean and cosy and the back rooms has a nice view. I highly recommend this place.

Room and bathroom were Ok but the aircondition did not work and this was a big problem with an air temperature of 32 degrees. The diner quality was poor and my steak had to be done twice to get it right. The staff is friendly but the facilities and the total experience are far from 5 stars.

The averageness of the hotel - (horrible irons, small rooms, gaudy decoration) is more than made up by the staff - polite and extremely helpful - making this overall a good place to stay for a quick trip. bring your swimsuit!

Stayed for one night during the tip this summer. Solid service, which is very friendly and mannered, overall feeling like you are in Switzerland, as the style of the hotel and stuff training is very close to high end swiss hotels. Style of the building leaves a lot more to be desired, but location is perfect, views from the rooms are very nice and rooms are big by European standards. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is ok, with nothing to be raving about, with very good service. I had a steak tartar, with is often a good measuring for the food, as it is not easy to make a good one, it was solid, but not spectacular. Obviously the restaurant is not on a cheap side of the cost curve. Breakfast is excellent, from milk products to sausages which are excellent, it was the best part of the hotel visit by far.
