“OK but just for the cost”

Stayed here one night, nice room, decent breakfast and meal at Le Jardin. The shower faucet was broken in the bathroom. Waited too long for luggage delivery. Seems to cater to business travellers and had little patience for North Americans.

Room Tip: Higher floor recommended quieter.

Stayed here recently on business and was not disappointed. The hotel is centrally located, literally 50 metres from main shopping street and 5 minutes walk from cathedral. The staff are friendly and efficient, the rooms nicely appointed, and the sleep quality terrific. Bathroom could do with a bit of a facelift. Breakfast was good and included in the room rate (which in itself was reasonable at 140 euros). Recommended.

We stayed at Le Royal for 4 nights with our daughter (6,5 years) - superb service everywhere (what you would expect from a 5-star hotel) - a nice feature is the valet parking - something you could easily get used to as parking in Luxembourg is expensive and hard to get at times - the parking was included in our package from tui.de

Breakfast was ok - but we have had better ones, and Sunday it got very busy (as others have also commented)

All in all a great place to stay, if you want to see Luxembourg and want to stay in a central hotel.

I liked the hotel from a luxury point of view. It is one of the Leading Hotels of the World. Very central, close to the shopping zone, within walking distance to major places of interest (Place d'Armes, Place Guillaume, Place du Théâtre, art museum etc). The hotel boasts a fine dining restaurant rated one of the top restaurants in Luxembourg : La Pomme Canelle. I did not have the opportunity to try it though but I enjoyed the main restaurant - the buffet for breakfast is good and comes with a wide choice. I was sad that there was no baked beans. They had pancakes on the menu which I ordered but the waitress came with the wrong order so I had to wait another half hour. The service at the hotel is not that great, I found it rather disappointing for a hotel of that calibre. That said, I commend the Housekeeping department the ladies cleaning the room were very nice, smiling, eager to cater for your comfort and very efficient. I asked for iron + board and they brought it so quickly! I also enjoyed Room Service which I ordered a lot as I was eating on my own and did not feel good about sitting in the restaurant for two hours alone... The hotel has a great spa and fitness centre which is open until 21:00 perfect also for those on business. The spa is very well kept, with a sauna, steam room and indoor swimming pool. They also sell swimsuits if you don't have one.

Hotel was superb in all respects except the price I paid should nave provided superman. All amenities were first class, Only meal I had was breakfast and it was more than adequate. In the centre of Luxembourg, close to Place d'Armes, Grand Ducal Palace, near by the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Having last visited the hotel back in the mid-1980s it was good to see that the high standards of yesteryear are still practiced today. Staff are friendly yet professional and helpful. The hotel was a warm sanctuary during a bitterly cold week in Luxembourg.

The rooms are clean and nicely appointed with comfortable and luxurious bedding. I don't agree with reports that rooms need major refurbishment but perhaps a lick of paint in the odd area. A nice touch was the blue ray DVD player which means you could watch your own movies - a plus if the weather is cold outside.

Breakfast was a real treat and was included in the room rate, otherwise it is €30. There's an extensive buffet to choose from and a good range of items that are cooked to order, all of which can be washed down with a local sparkling wine.

All in all it was a very relaxing stay. Make sure to use the complimentary shuttle to and from the airport if you aren't driving.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the park are supposed to be quieter. The free shuttle takes guests to and from the...

I have stayed at this property 10 times & first time I rated this hotel, I rated it a 5 - now a 3 - although visit this week a 2. For some reason, on my second visit they provided me a nice fruit basket - not since. I travel to Luxembourg 2-3 times per year & will be trying another hotel next visit. The location is convenient to city center & some of the staff are very good. However, after 10 visits, I do think appropriate to recognize me as a repeat guest -- each time I am greeted with "have you stayed with us before?". Some times breakfast is included, sometimes not -- even though I book through same corporate travel agent (if breakfast is not included it is outrageously expensive). There is no coffee in the room & think 5 euros for cup in hotel. I typically go to a local cafe - although in winter, a hassle. Rooms are nice sized, however, getting worn & outdated. Charge for a newspaper. No ironing board. TripAdvisor ratings have dropped in the last few years & I agree.
