It was a nice touch by having bathrobes but no shower cap. the bar closes very early ar 11 o clock and is expensive also no milk for tea in the fridge . No complimentary water either which would have been nice .The location of the hotel is ideal.

Unexpectably good. Charming old world and historic hotel. Great view of the city and most convenient to explore. Very good value for money when compared to modern Luxembourg business hotels. Overall a great stay.

We stayed here on a weekend trip to the Grand Duchy and the hotel is super central right by the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Place D’Armes. We arrived late and we had phoned ahead to advise of this so we were made very welcome by the concierge even though it was a late check in. Our room was on 5th floor with a balcony and a view of the golden lady statue. Everything was lovely in the spotless room from the decor and the well stocked bathroom to the nice touch of having an apple by the side of our bed- more healthy than a biscuit. The hotel has the quiet charm and elegance of a bygone era with many Art Deco features like the lift with the grill door but it is also all modern and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious in a delightful room and the staff were helpful and polite. We had a drink at the bar one evening which again was lovely and peaceful. Yes the hotel is by a busy road but this is Luxembourg City so if you want to stay central you will hear some noise in the evening. It didn’t stop us sleeping or spoil our stay. Location wise it is perfect in the middle of the City and just a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and the Royal Palace which you can visit in the summer. I’ve visited Luxembourg before and stayed outside the centre eg in Kirchberg which is quieter but I preferred to be in the City and to be in the heart of this wonderful City. I’d recommend this hotel to others.

Room tip: The rooms on 5th floor have balconies overlooking the Golden Lady statue.

Dear Guest, We thank you for taking so much of your time to write this exhaustive comments about our hotel, its services and its surroundings. We are glad to read that you enjoyed it even if it was noisy. It is right that our city nearly never sleeps. Sorry for that. Looking forward to seeing you again next time you come to Luxembourg. Would love to give this place a 4 out of 5 but I just can't. In terms of service of all staff, location, wifi (for an old building) and its breakfast, this hotel scores 5/5. What this lets this hotel and its staff down is the updates it desperately needs. One very evident issue, as some reviewers have already mentioned are the windows. You may as well have had a sheet of linen. You can hear a child sneezing on the street. Luxembourg doesn't have the crazy night life but the noise on the street doesn't stop between 10pm - 12 am, depending on either Friday or Saturday night. Did it affect sleep quality? Yes. Which, after walking 10 - 15 kms,it isn't the best.

I did ask a staff member if the hotel had plans to replace the paper thin windows. Judging by their response, this was an issue they have grown accustomed to watering down. True, the hotel cannot control the events on the street. But funnily enough the breakfast room located on the 1st floor have double glazed windows and you cannot hear a sound. Double glazing surrounding the breakfast room but the guest rooms itself doesn't......Hmmmm...

This hotel and the nostalgia it offers has the potential be outstanding. But unfortunately, things out of the staffs' control, like windows, old broken and patched up fridges, bathroom tiles in dire need of replacement, you can smell the 50s, lets it down.

Dear Guest, thank you for writing down your impressions. Even if I do not agree on all points but that is life. Concerning the windows you are right that some are not yet up to new standard and still wooden frames of the 60ties. We are replacing them one after the other . Concerning the noise in the city you are also right as in Summertime people do more noise outside then in wintertime. Best regards, Carlo Cravat

Very smart, up-market looking hotel at affordable price. The view from our room was directly over the 'Golden Lady' statue in Constitution Place. The hotel has a refined 'Maigret' appeal. The breakfast was excellent. The staff could not be more friendly or courteous. The rooms were bright, spacious and airy. If we ever stay in Luxembourg again, it will be at The Grand Hotel Cravat. Excellent.
