Stunning castle with a spectacular history. Very well maintained. You should go for the audio guided tour (2€) otherwise you will be missing lots of important and interesting information. Don't miss the 3D experience (for free).

This beautiful chateau is perched above Vianden and offers stunning views of the countryside. There were some very interesting exhibitions inside but unfortunately there weren't any English translations available. It is about 20 minutes walk up a hill to reach it but it was well worth the visit. It lit up at night which makes it a lovely back drop over Vianden.

This was a brilliant day out. The castle has a truly fascinating history and the museum helps you understand how it evolved from being a count’s home to being the largest and most important fortification.

Because we had a tight schedule and little money, we didn't go inside (now I regret it) but it was nice to see from the outside. It was my first trip to Europe and the first castle I saw in my life so I was super impressed

Vianden Castle was built between the 11th and 14th Century on the foundations of a Roman castle and a Carolingian refuge. This Castle-Palace bears the Hohenstaufen characteristics and is one of the largest and finest feudal residences of the Roman and Gothic eras in Europe.
The medieval castle has been rebuilt since the 1970's, however retained some of the original parts. Recommend.
