We arrived very late (close to midnight) in the hotel because of a late flight and informed them beforte to make sure we had a smooth check in. It took them over 20 minutes ! Once in our room we found a good size room but with a very dirty carpet. Result : asked next morning for a new one and got it without problem. Second evening we decided to have diner in Admirals Landing, the a la carte restaurant of the hotel and i was served a half baked fish. Tasted awful. Result : they trowed it back in the pan and we got a free dessert. These where our two main problems. The only thing that goes for this hotel is that they solve it ! But shouldn't a five star hotel have this kind of problems ? We also were annoied by the breakfast staff. Altough a good buffet we were left standing one day for over three minutes before someone came and invited us in for our table. Empty plates were left on the table, tables badly cleaned (lots of time wet after cleaning) and one day you have three waiters who would bring you coffee, the next day you have to call one yourself. They all seemed to get along quite well with one another, because most of the times they were talking to eachother in stead of doing their job.
I also have a problem with all the extra they charge you (espresso at breakfast for 2,45 Euro extra !) and not least of all : (maybe its a maltese problem in general) they are not friendly unless they have to.
I still gave the hotel a 3/5 because they seems to care once you make a complaint and i did like the location, the size of room and the quietness, i also enjoyed the pool and spa/wellness, so it was certainly not all bad, but i feel if a decent manager would point out everybody to do a good job it would lead to not raise this annoying problems.

As we arrived at the hotel via a private car, we could see it was going to be something special. We were escorted by the "bellboy" (not his correct title I am sure) to reception whilst his college unloaded our bags and then escorted up to our suite. The hotel had been recommended by my travel agent & we had been upgraded to an executive suite free of charge (honeymoon) overlooking the harbour. The room (rooms were spacious and utterly clean & our young man proceeded to explain everything we might want to know before leaving us with a smile.

It is a magnificant hotel although large but as we went October it was not overfull. The main impression we had was its not the hotel that matters, its the staff and they went out of their way to make us feel SPECIAL. The little things like room service, it seemed that whenever we left the room the maids were in tidying up. As an example on the first night, not only was the bed turned down but it was covered in rose petals, silly but showed that they wanted us to enjoy the experiance.

This was our first visit to Valletta, the town is a wonder of anciant monuments & the hotel faultless. So much so we are already planning our return next Febuary. So if you want a first class experiance, we would recommend the Grand

Fabulous Hotel, comfortable rooms and all the facilities that you could wish for, indoor/ourdoor pool, gym, massage, 4 restaurants etc. The bed was soooo comfortable that I wish I could have taken it home with me!!

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room with balcony and a super view of Sliema waterfront.

Everything about the hotel was great. Especially the restuarant. We had the buffet. The reception staff were always helpful and, well, I can't think of anything that wasn't great. Our room had a side sea view which was fine because we had the sun in the afternoon. The indoor pool was nice but no different to lots of other indoor pools.

Hotel is very comfy with really excellent food. I enjoyed the pool area and found the rooms clean and spacious. The hotel staff where on the whole very friendly but there were some rather frosty front desk staff. At times, you needed to wait a long time for someone to answer the phone if you were phoning front desk. The hotel is very nice but I must admit it could do with a bit of a refurb. All in all though I had a really comfortable stay and would definitely go again.

Room Tip: I prefer the higher rooms.
