We had our evening drinks here to relax before going back to the hotel. The service was brusque and no nonsense.. but what a relaxing place to be. As the evening wore on, our drinks were replenished and bowls of salted peanuts mysteriously appeared on the table. Meals served at tables around us looked and smelled wonderful and people obviously enjoying themselves.
Lunch on the "terrace" in the sun was fabulous. English food with a Maltese touch, and our Cisk went down a treat. Dapple shade, babble of conversation in various languages...
The pub is just round corner from the Valletta city gate (when we were visiting - March 2013 - was a ginomous dusty building site) and yet it is out of the way and like an oasis of calm.
A good pub and beats those cafes along the main thoroughfare anytime.
