A very helpful account of the spread of farming across Europe leads on to an excellent display of Neolithic, 'Temple period', Bronze Age and Phoenician cultures. Very absorbing and not to be missed, especially if you have already or are planning to visit the temples or Hypogeum.

A visit here provides a good way to prepare for visits to prehistoric sites in Malta. There are some excellent exhibits in this museum and the information provided is very good.

Here's where to get a feel for Malta's unique ancient history, the cradle of humanity, and there are some wonderful items on display. But if you're there when there are groups going round you'll be deafened by their competing commentaries.

Very well set out Museum, well presented artefacts and good explanations and animations.
You can't help but be impressed by the dwellings, etc that were carved out of the rocks 5000+ years ago.

The modest museum holds some amazing archaeological treasures from the Mesolithic thru Phoenician time periods for Malta. The art finds and portions of temples are excellent and give you a new respect for the societies of the time. All the write-ups are thorough and in Maltese/English.

It would be nice to have guided tours and/or audio guides. Plus more is needed in the "gift shop". I would have bought some things :-(
