This was our second stay in Valletta and our third to Malta. So many places to visit. Buy the multipass ticket to make the most of the attractions.

I might be seen as a person obsessed with museums, but I`m not! It`s just that this little museum has exceptional prehistorical artifacts and if you had no time to visit some archaeological sites from the island, the museum will fed you up with the most interesting elements,.

I was expecting something a bit better from this museum. The first part (prehistorical) is presented in an old-fashioned, static and repetitive way,. The second part (phoenician), is better but still the visit left me without answers to the many questions I had about Malta.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

As you rightly stated, the Neolithic section is nowadays a bit dated, however there are plans for this section to be renovated in the near future. The museum is currently updating its displays with the addition of a late Punic and Roman display. This will soon be open to the public. As soon as this is done, the museum plans to expand even further with the addition of the Byzantine and Medieval period.

Should you wish to receive further information regarding Malta’s history, and prehistory, please do not hesitate to contact us on info@heritagemalta.org

Kind regards,

Heritage Malta

I enjoyed the quick visit to this small museum. Not everyone will get anthing out of a visit here. If you care to learn about stone age happenings in Malta this is the place for you.

The Maltese don't appear to know what they have here - it's laid out in an old-fashioned, simple way, but tells a great story. Just who were these wonderful first Maltese and why did they disappear? Upstairs, dealing with later ages, is more commercial being sponsored by some business but is over slick and tries too hard to make an impact. Some very nice exhibits. The building itself is great though not easy to explore. Also with an interesting history. You have to ask if you want to buy a book that tells all about it. They closed down the shop - such a pity. Deserves to be better looked after and patronised.
