One of the most beautiful churches I have seen. The audio guide was a plus.
There was nothing to dislike

“Historic cathedral in the centre of Valetta.”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

The interior of the Cathedral is highly decorated with gold. It was,nt always like that at first. You really need to sit down for a while to take it all in.Unfortunately the seating area was cordoned off leaving only a few benches here and there. In the Oratory the two paintings by Caravaggio are really worth seeing. The larger one of the Beheading of John The Baptist is incredibly well done.

“This place is amazing”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

I have been to a LOT of historic churches, temples etc and this is one of the most ornate, interesting and unusual I've seen. Totally worth a look. The stories are interesting and the art phenomenal. The marble tombs all over the floors alone are worth the entrance fee. The only negative is that the place can get crowded. Obviously. Particularly in peak tourist times.

Make sure you have a guide to give you the details on this fabulous cathedral. There are so many stories behind the fabulous facade. It's a must-see!
