A beautiful building full of history. Good information provided via boards and audio guide. One of the must see places when visiting Valletta.

“This place is amazing”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

I have been to a LOT of historic churches, temples etc and this is one of the most ornate, interesting and unusual I've seen. Totally worth a look. The stories are interesting and the art phenomenal. The marble tombs all over the floors alone are worth the entrance fee. The only negative is that the place can get crowded. Obviously. Particularly in peak tourist times.

“Majestic Mass”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

The 9:15 Sunday Mass at St John's Co-Cathedral is worth the entire visit to Valletta. The service was conducted in Latin, Maltese and English and the music was like angels singing in the heavens. The entire experience was very special and I would suggest spending time here - particularly during high mass on a Sunday, whether you're religious or not - simply for the ambience. It was beautiful and extremely emotive. It's also nice to take in the atmosphere without tourists wandering around taking photos.

However, I also am a tourist who took photos after the mass - so on that note, the design was magnificent. There were symbols in the marble floors that I've never seen in a Cathedral before (eg: skull and cross bones). It was dramatically beautiful and for anyone interested in history, architecture, art or religion - it's a must see! :)

It was free for us because we went to mass but obviously on other days of the week there is an admission fee, from what I understand.

“Impressive art and history”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

Impressive art and history.
St. John's Co-Cathedral was built by the Knights of Malta between 1573 and 1578.
The church is considered to be one of the finest examples of high Baroque architecture in Europe and one of the world's great cathedrals. The Cathedral contains seven rich chapels, each of which was dedicated to the patron saint of the 8 langues (or sections) of the Knights.
You can see also the painting of Beheading of Saint John the Baptist (1608) by Caravaggio (1571–1610) is the most famous work in the church. Considered one of Caravaggio's masterpieces.
There is also a small interesting museum included in the entry fee.
