“Valletta Harbout Tour with 3 kids”
Review of Grand Harbour Tour

We got on the Captain Morgan boat from Sliema and the trip lasted around 1.5 hours. We went at the end of October but the weather was great, the water in the harbour was calm and we all enjoyed it. The ship itself is quite big and I recommend getting to the boat about 30 mins before departure; they let you on about 15 mins before. Someone recommended to us to sit upstairs on the right hand side and I can recommend it as you get a better view from the right. There is a bar on board but it is very basic, with minimal snacks and drinks. I recommend buying drinks and snacks from the M&S opposite, or at one of the many shops. The commentary isn't great and it is in a few languages but it's adequate. The boats are very basic but the one we went on was clean enough and we didn't need luxury anyway. Our kids really liked looking at the private yachts and there were lots of things to keep their attention. The Captain Morgan trip is linked to one of the open top bus companies so if you buy one you get tickets for the other.

Hope this isn't confusing. We did not do a tour. We were coming into Malta by ship. And the sun came up at just the right time. The harbour entrance is fascinating and must present problems to large ships. The colour of the stone is golden in the sunshine and a huge temptation for photographers and probably painters. As the light changes you see diffenent aspects of the architecture. The Spanish balconies are lovely. Enjoy.

We got a "free cruise" as part of the City Sightseeing ticket. A great way to see the Grand Harbour.

There are several Hrabour cruises which are very nice covering Marsamxett and The Grand Harbour. For the traveller on a budget, or a family one can have a boat ride around the Grand Harbour for as little as 3€ return. Start at Upper Barrakka Gradens. Go down the lift and across the road look for the signs for the local ferry. Ferry runs approx every 45mins around office hours. Leaving from Laskaris wharf it will take you across the harbour to Bormla ans Isla. More attractions in these fortresses. Plenty of Photo opportunities.
