I am very pleased I didn't cancel this dinner at bistro. Although the weather was horrible, it was well worth our time. The food menu is loaded with different dishes (some interesting and some traditional). Plus the prices are very reasonable, the restaurant itself is huge, the staff is very friendly and the chicken Cajun-honey is to die for... I recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits the Valletta waterfront.

Situated at the Valletta Waterfront this eatery has an outdoor dining space overlooking the sea, apart from the indoor area. We visited on a warm Friday evening in July and found the place already busy although it was still relatively early by weekend standards. We chose a table close to the seafront and were soon going through the extensive menu. The menu is a varied one and apart from the usual dishes has some non-standard fare like paella and aromatic duck. Prices are reasonable considering that we were in a tourist area and had the added privilege of being able to follow the berthing of a cruise liner. I opted for the paella and was served a delicious and generous portion in no time. The menu also boasts a wide selection of desserts and wined, though the former are not always fully available! On the downside, the seating is rather a tight affair and this continued to aggravate the heat and clamminess of the night. This in turn sent the mosquitoes roaming under the tables into a frenzy and we left the place with legs full of mosquito bites!

We were a group of 15 , arrived at 9.00 pm on Saturday Evening , Waiter took our orders at around 9.30 pm . After waiting for 2 long hours , we were finally served our food , which actually was good . Upon ordering our deserts we were informed that almost all that we have ordered were finished , and we had to change our order for what was available . The place was too noisy. The Staff were ok although they can do much better. Prices are not cheap at all. The area is very nice though especially in the evening.

Hard one this, food here rates it above average on the Waterfront. However, we got stung €50 each for Rock Fish. It was a special, but as nothing on the menu was above €20 we didn't ask the price...this enabled them to 'do' us! The fish was lovely and very well cooked, but €50 worth - no way. Service here is good, has the same atmosphere and view as all the others along the Waterfront. We will never go back, which is a shame, because as I say it is one of the better ones along here. My advice, if you have a special make sure you ask the price.

Bistro 516 is one of those places with such a varied menu it makes it hard to decide what you fancy, but once you do decide it doesn't disappoint, I had the Penne Dello Chef and it was the tastiest bowl of pasta I've had in a long time, also if your feeling thirsty I would also recommend The Rum Jungle from the cocktail menu Mmmm. Classic moment was when my husband was ordering our drinks and the waitress said "I only speak english" classic why ? we're scottish !!
