“Gets you thinking.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

Visiting the Lascaris War Rooms in October 2012, my wife and I were taken through the rooms by an extremely knowledgeable guide, he knew the answers to questions that I and others in the group of 9 visitors asked him.
You start by entering via a small doorway in a tunnel, after paying you watch an excellent audio-visual show and then start the guided tour. The rooms show how basic things were during their use, cramped dimly lit and with poor ventilation.
Photos show the war rooms in use and are a fascinating insight into the work carried out there. Look at the board which would have shown the state of RAF squadrons based on Malta, then close your eyes - you can picture the sense of urgency, the mad scramble as pilots rushed to their aircraft to defend this small island.

Thank you BlakeyStaines.
It is really incredible how they managed to protect the whole island from there and you can see, fell, and touch the life conditions in that dangerous period for being in this lovely island.

“The war rooms were excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

It was easier to reach the War Rooms via the bus terminal (which we discovered on the way out) this will help to find the place easier as many reviews state that his place is hard to find. With regards the rooms themselves, this is a really interesting place to visit and you get a feeling of real history. Although the actual atmosphere of the war can never be truly replicated the very informative guide tells a story that paints a strong picture of the events that took place with real political significance that changed the face of the war. Highly recommended.

We are even trying to improve all the signage and make easier the way down into them, but we improved a lot the number and quality of the signs, but we still have limitations about where and how to put them. We'll keep trying. Thank you for your review, I will personally tell to the tour guides.

“YOU MUST VISIT THIS PLACE”

You simply must visit this excellent place. The guide is entertaining and well informed. You get to learn a lot about the history of Malta in WWII I found it most informative.

We are trying to involve the tourists into the rich Maltese History during the IIWW by bringing them this fantastic places alive, like the Malta at War Museum in Birgu, with the original Air Raid Shelter.

“Excellent place to visit, if you can find it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

This is somewhere well worth hunting out. It isn't as easy to find as it should be but it is a very enjoyable and informative place to visit. After an informative and emotional video presentation you are taken on the tour of the water rooms by the most enthusiastic and well informed guide. The information and emotion he imparted about the war rooms and the history and use of the site.

As I mentioned before we are working really hard to put more signs indicating the way to go into the Lascaris War Rooms, but obviously, first we need to agree with the Government where to put them, and being a City into the World Heritage list, is not so easy to do it.
If you go into the Upper Barraka Gardens, on top of Lascaris, you can take a map from the displays near the stair coming into the Saluting Battery or ask to the receptionist. Our guides are really concerned about the History of our sites and that is the reason they are so passionate while guiding people around.
