Description: Situated in the heart of Malta's Capital, Valletta. San Giovanni is the ideal place to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a unique environment that oozes character, charm & history. Our menu highlights the colourful flavours that distinguish Mediterranean recipes, offering clients a vast selection of traditional and contemporary dishes. The restaurant is in the open air, with all the tables and chairs beneath sunshades. San Giovanni is indeed the place to be for any special occasion, business dinners or romantic occasion.

Beware of this place, and go somewhere else! We came starving to the restaurant and ordered four dishes of food for our company. People coming after us were served, eat and left before our food came in. It was not until after we reminded the staff about our food we got it after another ten minutes. In total, we had to wait 1 hour to get the food. The waiter started to explain that this was because we had ordered one plate of salmon. I don't know how salmon could take one hour to prepare, and obviously this was only a very bad excuse. The refused to offer us the food without payment, and eventually the only discount they gave was for parts of our drinks.

The food was, once we finally got it, okay, with the exception that the fries was not fully finished (after one hour they couldn't even prepare the fries right).

In addition, Valletta suffers from pigeons, and this place is overfilled with them. In addition, next to our table a man who also was guest at the restaurant even fed the pigeons, so there were feathers and dust flying all over our table.

So, go somewhere else if you want your food in timely order and properly finished, and if you have to have your dining in this area, sit inside if you don't like compete with pigeons about your food.

Have spent a week in Valletta and found much recourse to this establishment. Opposite the Conventual Church (Co-Cathedral) of St John it is perfectly located and with free wifi and helpful staff (especially Omar Chalbi) was a great daily meeting point for my three travelling companions and me. Do give it a try!

Loved this restaurant and ate here every evening of our 1 week stay in Valetta, Malta. Food is great and the staff are very friendly. One waiter especially I would like to mention is Omar Chalbi, he was attentive, well mannered and just what a waiter should be. Thanks Omar for making our evenings perfect.

In Valletta there is a great restaurant, with great food , a great view, live music and a really great waiter. Omar Chalbi is fantastic, he meets and greets, waits tables and could hold his own anywhere. If there is anyone in Malta who wants a good public relations person, look up this young man!!! We were staying at The Phoenicia and found a lot of excellant places to eat,Valletta is looking good, this city is a must and if you are there do try San Giovanni and say hello to Omar.

Spent 1 week in Malta and 1 in Gozo. On Malta I stayed in Valletta and found it rather hard to find a good, budgetfriendly spot to eat outside after a 'hard days work' as a tourist visiting all the sites. With winter in sight at home I wasn't going to sit inside for my meals on Malta! Also It was rather disappointing in what most places had on offer, most seem to cater to British tastes.

Glad I found San Giovanni, where Latinka and Omar were welcoming and the food was fine. Italian food served with a friendly smile. And it didn't break the budget.

Thanks for the recipe Omar.
