My partner and I stayed at The Phoenicia for a week and we decided to give The Pegasus a whirl on our last night - we had been a year ago and I have to say we were very disappointed last October, but we wanted to see if it had improved.

And it has.By about 200%!

The menu has improved, the ambience has improved and we finally had the pleasure of meeting Charles, who informed me that he's been there some 14 years. Unfortunately he was not around during our first visit to the restaurant.

Anyway, we're glad we gave it a second chance as we had the best meal of the entire holiday - the veloute was a dream (and vegetarian, so points for that!), and the pumpkin main was rich, tasty and nicely accompanied with a smooth mash and some yummy vegetables. I was too stuffed for dessert, but we saw Charles making crepes and it looked and smelt divine!

The wine selection is vast and reasonably priced. All in all a very satisfying meal - we had a little wait for the first course, but the Chef sent out some little dishes to keep us from eating all the bread rolls!!!

The staff are a credit to this restaurant - polite, discreet and excellent in what they do. Charles is a wonderful maitre d' and truly loves what he does, as it shows in all the care he takes to make people feel welcome and satisfied. He's even one step ahead of the guest at times and anticipates what you need before you even realise it yourself! It was a true delight to be his guests last night and we'll never forget our dinner at The Pegasus - well done to all the team at Pegasus, your service is outstanding.

We had a dinner to celebrate a special occasion and it was much more than I expected. The head waiter was excellent in making us feel at home and cared for. The restaurant is small but it gives an intimate feeling very few places have nowadays. The food was excellent and waiting time was acceptable. The experience was superb, much more than what we were looking for. The prices are on the high side but they are surely worth every penny. We will surely return.

Whislt staying at The Phoenicia hotel, we had a fantastic meal at the brasserie, it is also open to non-guests. The food was magnificent, there was fish of the day on display outside for you to select and all was cooked to perfection (the chef comes round personally to check which says a lot of his confidence). The staff are all very professional, the head waiter in particular exudes the air of a man who takes pride in his job and knows exactly what he is doing. Well worth the money and a great experience all in all.

Whilst staying at the Phoenicia we dined at the Pegasus Brasserie located within the hotel. it is without question among the best restaurants at which we have dined over the last two or three years. It should be emphasised that as the door is open to all and since it is popular among the discerning local residents it is advisable to make your reservation in advance. The lighting is subdued and the whole ambience mirrors the warmth of the welcome you will receive from the manager Charles a long time member of the hotel staff and his assistants.Take time to study the menu which describes not only the delicious variety of the various platters but explains how all the ingredients which are of the highest quality are sourced locally and complemented by the finest grades of local wines. Charles personally served our meal which was preceded by an amuse bouche to tempt the appetite and the portions of the starter, main course and dessert were just right and exquisitely presented. We can recommend the lobster thermidor followed by the crepes suzette ( which were in a sauce containing more ingredients than we had ever tasted before) again carefully prepared by Charles. Another nice touch was to meet chef Jonathan who came to the tables to meet with guests. We returned on two further evenings during our stay to dine at Pegasus and the same unvarying standards prevailed. We have no hesitation in recommending readers of Trip Advisor to dine at Pegasus - whether or not staying at the hotel.
