Description: The Pegasus at the Phoenicia Hotel Malta provides a relaxed atmosphere along with friendly, attentive staff who anticipates your every need. This is the perfect cocktail to ensure the best ending to the day. Open for dinner daily (seasonal closures may apply), our Executive chef Saul Halevi create everything in-house using primarily local produce for an innovative, modern cuisine together with daily fresh fish. Complimenting the menu is the distinctive wine list compiled by our in-house sommelier together with the Pegasus Restaurant's Maitre d'hotel Jean Paul. A private entrance to the restaurant from the main road assures privacy to the most discerning diners.

Maybe, just maybe, one of the finest restaurants in Malta, and even further afield.

We frequently dine out, and this restaurant in the majestic Phoenicia Hotel, just outside the battlements of Valletta, is compact. It is pointless to go through each dish, but after repeated visits, the restaurant has failed to disappoint, either in terms of service, or ambience, or quality of food.

Not a cheap place to go to (expect a bill approaching Eur 150 for two if a full 3-course meal with apperitifs and liqueurs and coffee to finish is taken), but as a dinig experience, it really is difficult to beat.

Situated at the edge of the old city of Valletta, and having an ambiance second to none. The hotel that the restuarant is part harks back to the days when service with a smile was all part of the way things used to be done. Just about the best of the best - enjoy.

Book here a table of four for yesterday and was accepted over the phone. When we turned up for our meal we were sent away by the waitress she told us that they don't accept Maltese clients during the week!!! Disgusting this is humiliating and also discriminating to turn paying guests away, and this service in a 5 star hotel???? They could have at least told us over the phone as we drove all the way down from Mellieha, they will never see us again nor any of our friends.

Dear Daman123,

I would like to sincerely apologise for the unacceptable incident you experienced with your reservation for the Pegasus.

I assure you that in no way do we NOT accept or in any way discriminate against Maltese clientele. Being a local restaurateur yourself I am sure you noticed the amount of advertising and PR we have undertaken locally in order to promote the new styled Pegasus on the local market. I am also pleased to say that we have had very positive response from the Maltese clientele who have experienced the Pegasus so far and this has also resulted in a number of very positive reviews on TripAdvisor.

This incident was unfortunately the result of a gross misunderstanding which originated from a wrong entry in the reservation book. On one particular day we are going to have the Phoenix restaurant closed for dinner and as the hotel is relatively busy on this day, we have decided to leave enough space in the Pegasus for our residents. In fact, the note referred to “residents only” not no Maltese. Such occasions are rare and as a hotel we have a responsibility to allow for dining space for our residents.

Whilst apologising once again for this incident I assure you that the steps have been taken to avoid such incidents in the future.
