Luciano Valletta Boutique Accommodation
Reviewed June 15, 2012

My wife and I have just returned from a 4 day stay at the Valletta Boutique. When we checked in at about 10 in the evening we found the staff to be very unhelpful and rude. When shown to our room we were left to get on with it, no explanation on how anything worked or that if we wanted air conditioning we would have to buy a card downstairs. I felt at one stage we had simply annoyed the girl who showed us to our room, just for checking in so late, even though I had sent an email in advance to alert them of our situation. At breakfast the next morning the same member of staff who had shown us to our room seemed quite put out when my wife asked for another coffee.

However the Hotel/House itself is very well kept and very clean, with clean towels in the room every day. And the location is fantastic, bang in the middle of town. You can walk every where within the city from here. Yes, you can hear the bells from St John's, but they are not that loud. Also have a look at the roof terrace with it's excellent views of Valletta

I travel quite a bit so I do get used to over worked and tired hotel staff and understand that they have off days, but I found this one member of staff to be exceptionally rude. Rude enough for me to actually bother to write a review on trip advisor.

My partner and I stayed in room 32 which is the four poster duplex..it really is worth paying the extra for the room, it's light and airy with stunning views and is really lovely. Clean towels every day too!
From Cinzia dealing with the booking to her father Luciano, the family couldn't have been more helpful and hospitable. Luciano is rightly proud of his guest house and will help you with anything you need to know, he even gave us a bottle of Maltese wine for our room to share on our first night. He deserves excellent reviews (and not just because of the wine!)
The position is also fantastic as everything is central to the Valletta Boutique. We even loved the noises of a city, the bells (try to work out how they chime..we got it on the with a bit of help:) it's all part of the experience. If you want a true traditional Maltese visit then this is the place to stay.

During our stay of 3 nights (first week of September 2011) last summer, we really felt very comfortable and thought it was really the best choice as Valletta Boutique Hotel was very central, extremely clean, elegantly decorated and comfortable. With its excellent location and price, we can recommend it to anybody thinking of having a holiday in Valletta.
While reading the reviews of this hotel before booking a double room, we heard about the hospitality and friendliness of Luciano(the owner) and during our stay he proved that he deserved more than what was written about him.
On our second day just after breakfast we had a chance to chat with him and we felt ourselves as guests in his house rather than hotel customers. He very kindly insisted for complimentary drinks and also invited us to Malta once again to see the other parts of the island and Gozo.
While we were leaving the hotel on Sunday,he saw us and with his usual friendly attitude he offered to give us a lift to the airport and although we turned down his offer he insisted to do so and very kindly gave us a small tour of the city and took us to the airport.
We were given a spacious and airy room overlooking St.John’s Co-Cathedral and our room’s traditional Maltese decoration made us feel like we were in a house in Valletta rather than in a hotel room.(pls.see pictures)
The hotel served English breakfast and the cafe/restaurant downstairs served delicious options for dinner so we preferred to eat there.
We had a wonderful time in Valletta and would stay there again.
We will never forget Luciano’s great hospitality during our stay.We definitely recommend this hotel as the best choice.

Stopped here for just one night en route to surprise relatives who live on the island. This was our first stay in Valletta, but not our first in Malta. As always, we perused the various reviews on TA and found the majority spot on with their description of a friendly, quirky hotel with a family atmosphere. Our room was spacious and airy and completely in keeping with a traditional Maltese 'House of Character'. The cathedral bells have been mentioned in several reviews and were indeed audible every quarter hour. We were aware of this before booking and did not find it too much of a disturbance, but obviously worth bearing in mind if you are a particularly light sleeper. The staff, without exception were helpful, friendly and accommodating and we had no problem storing our bags while we strolled around the beautiful city of Valletta for the afternoon after checking out. A great stay.

Room Tip: Be aware of the cathedral bells

I cannot imagine going back to Malta and not staying at Luciano's. Not only do they serve the best cafe latte and breakfast in the city, but location-wise the boutique hotel is right in the heart of Valletta opposite St. John's Cathedral. The owner and staff went well beyond their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable for the duration of our stay. In fact, my gratitude towards Luciano, Bradley and Michelle is immense for all they have done for me in a case of emergency.

I fully endorse other reviewer's positive comments regarding the boutique's convenient location and interior decoration, excellent service and friendly treatment. But if you are travelling as a group and plan to spend more than a few days in the hotel it is worth getting two rooms instead of one, purely for practical and time-management reasons. In any cases the prices are very reasonable and affordable, not only in relation to the accommodation but for going around and eating out in Malta, so why not pamper yourself a bit?
