The best way to see Valletta for me was to take the gondola style boats ( eight euros' ) from the waterfront for a trip around the grand harbour taking in the wonderful views of the Valletta and the three cities all on the half hour trip, brilliant.

The views from here are fantastic, and can see all around. The old buildings are great to look at and photograph.

If you need to see Valletta, then you must do it across from it. You can either take harbor tour or from Fort Angelo in traditional boats called Dghajsa. These trip cost you only 2 euro per person to 8 euro for the harbor tour.

Valletta Waterfront was an amazing view. To see all those buildings and to think how long they have been there. History is such a wondrous thing. To walk the streets that have been walked for so many years is still mind-blowing at times.

The views across the bay are stunning. We were there on a very rainy November afternoon, however still amazing views.

This place was a bit of a revelation
I knew all about the trials and tribulations of the City during the second world war and the importance of the City strategically. But Wow. The city is gorgeous...loads of winding and steep side streets to explore, plenty of history as per my previous posts, arts, good food, shopping opportunities if you are so inclined. Clean immaculate and a must do. If you do nothing else on Malta, spend a day or two here and enjoy the City and the spectacular bay and waterfront. At night the place is amazing. It is crowded of course but there is loads to see and I would start with the Fort first and work by way back to the city gates. Wow!

Malta is now heavily built up and some of the more modern buildings would not win architecture prizes. The older buildings , with churches rising steeply above the eyeline, are wonderful .

To appreciate the extent of the fortifications developed over several hundred years, do take a harbour cruise

Spectacular port surrounded by fortifications. The best port we visited on our Mediterranean cruise.

Good spot to take amazing pics from the city. Ferry service might be down if the weather is too rough.
