“For the best view of Valetta Waterfront take the Sliema ferry late afternoon....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

The medieval fortified waterfront of Valetta is, to my mind, one of Europes most Iconic sights with church towers and domes appearing above the ramparts.

As with many things this view is best appreciated from a distance. The waterfront of Sliema, which lies to the North of Valetta, provides the best vantage point for viewing the waterfront. There is a small ferry which takes 5 or 10 mins to get to Sliema from Valetta and runs every 30mins. The ferry leaves Valetta from Marsamxett and costs just a few Euros each.

The views from Sliema in the late afternoon / early evening are superb - and there are loads of locals swimming and diving into the sea from rocky shelves along this area so theres a real local feel. (There are loads and loads of tourist restauraunts here as well) Be carefull though - the last ferry returns back to Valetta at something like 7.30pm so dont get stuck !

“take the boat”

boat offers a good look at the sprawling waterfront which otherwise seems difficult to get a good look at.

“Dont be confused there are different harbour fronts!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

One is just for cruise passengers and is false and clinical with no evidence of the real malta. The other side has a few nice authentic restaurants and the sliemma ferry.
You can walk around the harbour walls this side. Lots of maltese families were picnicing on the rocks.
There are steps for swimming where we saw lots of colourful fish.
If in doubt always avoid cruise ship areas and follow the locals.

“Nothing special here”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

Walked down to the waterfront from our hotel in valetta. Whilst there were a few more restaurants here than in valetta centre we didn't think it was particularly scenic or welcoming. Certainly wont be rushing back there.
