Description: La Mère is tucked away past the old 'Suq Tal' Belt'. Rustic wooden tables blend with Middle Eastern décor, matching the unique theme of two great cuisines - Indian and Middle Eastern. A small, intimate dining area, and flickering candles, give a warm, homely feel. However, the tables are spaced enough that you do not feel cramped. Servers are attentive and knowledgeable on the wide choice available in the menu. Here, our desire is to present a repertoire of authentic dishes, bursting with flavour, certainly a multi-sensory experience. The menu offers a broad selection of starters, allowing you to whet your palate with a Lebanese spiced lamb sausage, or enjoy mussels and chorizo in coconut milk. Mains are similarly varied, giving you a choice of curries, or perhaps king prawns or lamb chops cooked in the tandoor. Our new menu also presents a selection of main dishes with a fusion twist, such a marinated filet of fish wrapped in banana leaf. There is also a good choice of vegetarian, vegan, lactose and gluten free options. Besides we have introduced a menu degustation, an extensive wine list, cocktails and whiskeys and a broad selection of homemade desserts such as chocolate filled samosas with mango and coconut, assorted baklava, pistachio and ricotta briouats with halva ice-cream.

Thought we'd try something different to eat and saw this had good reviews.
went there without booking and although they were fully booked, they managed to fit us in. We did arrive before 8pm and were told we had to be finished by 9.15pm as they would need the table then. This was not a problem for us but others were turned away while we were there.
Also no children under 7 are allowed as it is their policy. Again not a problem for usour daughter is 9.
I had a medium meat Thali which allowed me to try a few dishes which were all extremely tasty. The medium madras was quite hot though so if you don't like it too spicy a mild might suit most.
One other thing while we were there it was during some
festival/celebration and a marching band came past our table while we were waiting for our meal. Quite surreal but extremely entertaining

I decided to try out a new restaurant, so I decided to visit this restaurant with my family. I can honestly say that this is perhaps one of the best meals I've have ever had. The price is very reasonable, and the portions are just right. The menu also features a wide variety. The restaurant is very classy and one will surely enjoy a night out when visiting this restaurant.

You can bring your own wine! The food was outstanding. I had the Sagwala & my husband had the rabbit. It warps truly one of the best meals we've had. Got a table outside & loved City in the street watching people walk by. They had a Bolivan busker play beautiful guitar music as we dined. Truly a magical experience; one we won't forget!

This could even be a really good restaurant if we had the chance to taste it, since we have two children (4 months and 4 years of age...and they are not crocodiles...) and we were stopped at the entrance by a waiter who said: "Sorry, but we do not accept kids". We feel sorry for them, because we are not tourists since we come from Gozo and we would have been regular customers. If you try to give us the usual answer (as for other complaints on tripadvisor), please do not waste your time. The place is not so small as they say and we suggest to change the name of the place (La mère usually accepts children).

Excellent (Indian) food and service, a fair price. Our preferred choice while staying in Valetta.
