The restaurant is kind of delicious old fashion style. The owner is a very nice person. Although we had no reservation we have been more than welcome. The food is tastefull, products are fresh and local. We'll certainly be back

Excellent food, lamb was so tender it just fell off the bone, starters were great too, service extremely friendly and detailed. Very much Recommended

I last dined at Rubino 5 years ago and I found its blend of proud ownership and great food a real inspiration.
And today in a world of faddy restaurants Rubino's hand has not changed but strengthened. The food has a slightly more modern appearance but remains delicious and traditional. I had pan-fried smoked octopus and a whitebait fritter to start, a mouthwatering lambuki (local fish) with a picante tomato salsa and a perfectly matched Italian white.
The service is exceptional ( even down to remembering what I ate five years ago!) and all perfectly priced.
Possibly my favorite restaurant in the world.

Excellent food, patiently translated by the staff from Maltese to English. Don't miss the ricotta "doughnuts" and the ricotta cake for dessert.

My wife liked it, I did not

It's a bistro and more like Guze Bistro than the other restaurants we went to. There are a couple of tables at street level and more underground.

The boss is lively and energetic and makes sure that things work. The menu is on a board and he explains anything and everything.

We were there on a Friday evening and the place was as popular with Maltese cutomers as with readers of Trip Advisor. Prices were similar to the other 3 restaurants we tried : about 40 Euros a head

The menu offers both meat (which I ate) and fish (which my wife took) Her grilled fish was fine, if unremarkable. My rabbit - maybe the Maltese national dish- which was described as fried with garlic turned out to be a rabbit stew. This would have been fine if it had not been overcooked to the point of dryness. The chocolate tart which followed was equally dry. Overall, my feeling was that the kitchen just did not live up to the promise of the menu.
