“Good hotel with lovely view”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

We stayed here in March and found it to be adequate for our needs. The rate we paid was very, very reasonable through the hotel's own website. We opted for the superior room with balcony facing the front of the hotel and as other reviewer's have said - the views are amazing over the harbour. With these rooms facing the front though there will be noise during the day as it is on the main promenade road. The room is perhaps basic, but large and clean and the shower is very powerful even though it doesn't look it.

Breakfast was good for a three star hotel and the views from the breakfast room on the 8th floor were of course amazing as well as it looked over the harbour.

There are two lifts and one lift is very small but neither broke down during our stay. Staff very friendly.

As far as 3 star hotels go, this is a good one.

Room Tip: definitely get a room facing the front to get good views

We arrived on Saturday with no reservation looking for a place to rest our heads for two nights. Whilst we had a short wait at reception, they were friendly and we were given keys to two rooms to have a look at, one being a sea view twin the other being a sea view duluxe twin (there were no doubles available but we were ok with that!)

We opted for the duluxe as we preferred the balcony and views. We have had a very comfortable stay, at good value (75 euro per night, room only) considering it has been Easter weekend and many of the other hotels we visited we're fully booked.

Good variety of places to eat nearby, great location for harbour ferries and cruise boats.

The air con wasn't the best, I'm not sure it would be up to dealing with August temperatures, but was fine for us. There is some road noise at the front, but we didn't find it a massive problem.

All in all a very pleasant stay.

All these reviews are based on the writers opinion so are subjective , however as a seasoned traveller this hotel ticks all the boxes , the rooms are spotless if a little basic and comfortable . The sheets were clean as was the bed , there was a little dust on the floor when I moved the wardrobe as the television was blocked by it , but nothing serious . The price was good and the staff friendly and helpful.there is in fact very little to condemn this hotel they have tried very hard , the lifts are compact for the larger man but perfectly useable and the location is perfect opposite the Valletta ferries and buses.an estate agent may write up the rooms as compact and bijou but infact they have done remarkably well with limited space ... will definately visit again

We had an out of season special offer on a large sea view room - well worth paying a bit extra for. On arrival we were met by a lovely young lady receptionist and on finding our room, on a high floor as requested, were pleased by its size, cleanliness and superb outlook on Sliema Creek. The bathroom was perfectly adequate with plenty of hot water at al times. We also had problems with the safe but the Manager, an extremely pleasant and helpful young man, made 2 visits to help. The problems were firstly the previous occupant had left it closed and secondly new batteries needed. After that, fine and there was no charge for the safe. No TV but we weren't bothered, had a laptop and got English radio on the free wifi that worked everywhere very well. The Hotel has been under new management for about a year so there are still further refurbishments needed but they can't do it all at once! The breakfast room is o the 8th floor with a terrific view. There was plenty of choice including hot bacon and sausages, boiled eggs, cold meats, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, bread & cakes. The cost would be 4 euros if buying separately, again excellent value. The bus information kiosk is a short distance away - to the right on exit as is the Valetta ferry. The 12 euro week's unlimited travel on the bus is a really good way to see the island. Locations not served from Sliema can all be accessed via Valetta bus station. The taxi service is well organised, at the airport you buy a ticket from the kiosk, standard charges to your destination. Hotels sell tickets and will book your return. There is NO opportunity for rip-offs! The restaurant below the Hotel (Oggi Café) offers good quality food although not cheap. Our meal was excellent on our first night and we would have gone again but we had some unseasonably cold weather and it was too cold to enjoy a meal, there being no central heating and sitting outside huddled against a space heater in full outdoor clothing does not appeal. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel as an excellent location for sightseeing. In March there is little street noise so we slept well, nice comfortable new mattress. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff; the Maltese (and the young lady from Ukraine) are courteous, honest and hard working. Our experience here made for an enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view room with balcony. A high floor gives better views. They'd get hot in...

The location of the Marina Hotel is fantastic if you only intend to stay in sliema or travel further afield , the ferry to Valletta is almost right outside as are the bus stops to other places on the island (although the timetable for the buses seems a bit random). I found the place stylish and modern with a hint of the traditional and any minor gripes i had aren't worth mentioning as overall it was excellent .

Room Tip: I paid a couple of quid a night extra for a sea view which was well worth it as the view over the Va...

Just returned from an enjoyable 3 days at the Marina Hotel. The rooms are quite basic but large, spacious and clean. We had a balcony room which looked out over the bay. There was very little noise from the pavement cafes downstairs which we were a little concerned about also no noise or smell from the Burger King next door. There was a good choice at the buffet breakfast and plenty of available tables. Buses stop within a couple of minutes walk and the X2 to the airport is only EUR2.20 each, which was loads cheaper than a taxi but does take about 45 minutes. We couldn't work the safe but after reporting the problem the Manager appeared within a couple of minutes to reset it and show us how it worked. There are 2 lifts in the hotel, both of which were in working order although they were quite small. We was hoping to use the rooftop hot tub but it haden't been filled as still classed as winter. A good stay overall and would recommend for a cheap, no -frill holiday
