We enjoyed our three week stay at The Plaza Regency in March 2012.The hotel was better than we expected with friendly staff. Infact they up graded our room to a studio which was very comfortable. Our room was at the back of the hotel on the top floor from which we had a very good view of the area,The meals were good , but the breakfast did not have much selecrion but it was adequate. It was well positioned bus stop nearby plenty of places to walk to at night a few interesting pubs nearby, the hotel bar prices were no dearer.I would have no problm going
back there.

We only stayed 2 nights in the Plaza Regency which Is the sister hotel to the Plaza Hotel and of course they are next door to each other .The Regency Is the cheaper of the two,the room they gave us was far to small ,so for 25 euros we upgraded to a larger room with a sea view which was much better.Breakfast was very good in a pleasant dining room of the Plaza Hotel. "repeat"Plaza Hotel. If we ever returned to Silema we would be quite happy to stay in the PLAZA HOTEL but not the Regency but of course a little more expensive .

Room Tip: Simple, Stay at the PLAZA.

We stayed at the Plaza Regency 7th-14th September. As we were arriving late at night I had emailed ahead to ensure we would be able to check in late and was assured this was no problem. We had spent extra to get a 'Superior Sea View' room, after reading reviews saying it was worth spending the extra money rather than a regular room. The room itself was fine, although hardly 'superior' so I'd have been interested to see what the bog standard ones were like! The bed was two singles pushed together, so you lose a little intimacy but it didn't bother us too much. The bathroom could do with being refitted, as the shower unit was looking a bit old, but it all worked fine and was clean. The TV was a nice wall-mounted Samsung but unfortunately for the first few nights every channel had a 'scrambled' signal or no signal at all! We complained about this and were told a maintenance man would investigate, but he never showed up. We did eventually manage to get a couple of channels working albeit with a pretty fuzzy picture. There was a fridge in the room too which was a nice touch, so we could keep our drinks cool. As for the 'sea view', we were facing directly on to Tower Road and St Julian Bay but alas we were only on the 1st floor (room 120) so it was a bit more like tree view than sea! The hotel has a decent pool on the roof, plus a sun desk and a bar up there too where we spent some time - though note these are shared by both the Plaza and the Regency buildings. All in all we don't really have any complaints though - it's cheap and you get what you pay for. The room was clean and the air con worked - a God send! It's not fancy and it's not luxurious but it makes a decent base (especially with the bus stop right outside).

we got married in malta at the start of june. i had been looking for months and months for a hotel for us and our guests and got so sick of looking that i booked us into this hotel. after that all our family followed suit. i must admit thats when i started regretting it when i read the reviews here. all i could think was oh my god the family are gonna kill me.

so i emailed the hotel with everyones bookings. some had asked for high floors and others extra beds for kids. understandably i was told that while they would do everything possible to meet our requests there wasnt a 100% guarantee.

myself and my now husband arrived in malta and checked in. i wanted to double check all the bookings again and spoke to a manager called silvana. she was an absolute star. off we went to our room and we had requested everyone to be in the plaza side. we were. we had booked a studio and it was massive. really clean, everything we could want. then we looked over towards the table and there was a fruit bowl, a card and a bottle of sparkling wine. what a lovely thing to do. as our family arrived they all got the rooms they had asked for except 2 friends, but that was sorted first thing the next morning. we didnt eat in the hotel at all but we did have the most beautiful cappuccinos in caras downstairs everyday.

silvana was brilliant. she organised a bus to pick everyone up at the airport and even gave the driver a sign with our wedding on it. the day before the wedding, myself and my husband moved to our wedding hotel. i spoke to silvana again and asked if there was any chance we could have the same room two days later when we came back. she just smiled and said you have better! we were intrigued. came bk the day after the wedding and we had been given the penthouse suite at the top of the building wih a balcony that cld easily fit 30 ppl on it at no extra charge. she really went way above and beyond and made us feel so special. we went to the rooftop bar a few times with family and drinks were reasonable. 2 things i will say tho is the music up there finished very early and the bar also closed really early. luckily i sweet talked the barman into staying a bit later one night. all in all we had a fantastic time and so did our family. nothing was too much for the staff and they always said hello and smiled. especially the girls on reception and a rather jolly older man on reception at night who even tried to give my aunt his number which we all found very funny. once again thank you so much to silvana, sandra and all the other members of staff for making our wedding week so special. we will be back next year for our first anniversary xxxxx
