Preluna Hotel & Spa
Ranked #6 of 28 Hotels in Sliema
Reviewed June 7, 2014

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for ten days in mid-May and we were very impressed and believe that it more than lives up to its 4 star rating. From the moment we arrived we were well looked after by the attentive and courteous staff. We had booked a sea view room which exceeded our expectations in that it had ample space with all the expected amenities and a balcony overlooking the lovely Mediterranean and with a great view of the entrance to the seaports of Valleta & Sliema. A security safe is available in the room which costs 1 Euro per day.
The room was always cleaned thoroughly ( although they did forget to attend to it once during our stay). There are four lifts in the hotel and during our stay the hotel had problems with two of them breaking down which could lead to long waits during busy periods (i.e. mealtimes). The bar service in the hotel was excellent and the prices were very reasonable and there is also a happy hour between 6 & 7 pm when all drinks are half price. The gym is well equipped and clean and is free to all inclusive customers and costs 5 euros per visit to all other guests. The indoor pool and jacuzzi and sun terrace are all free to hotel guests as is the outdoor pool and bar area which is situated a short stroll across the road from the hotel (towels provided).Breakfast at the hotel was more than adequate with everything from a full English to continental available (buffet style). Overall, we came away with an excellent opinion of the hotel in general and the staff in particular and we look forward to staying at the Preluna again soon.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are well worth the little extra cost.

I have recently returned from an enjoyable 2 week stay in the Preluna. Arriving at 1.00 am my mother and I experienced a welcoming and speedy check-in, which set the tone for the holiday. Our sea view room gave a wonderful outlook over the med.The room was spacious and comfortable and while there was a charge for the safe this was only 1 Euro a day, much lower that other hotels in the area. The buffet style breakfast was excellent and the range of food on offer for dinner was of a high standard. In particular the restaurant staff were friendly, efficient and courteous. The amenities in the hotel were of high standard particularly the recently refurbished roof top sun terrace. We will be returning again in October.

We have just returned home two days ago from a weeks stay on Malta at the Preluna,
We found the hotel t to be one of the best equipped on the island, rooms were clean and spacious, beds were clean and comfortable. restaurant had a good variety of food on offer, and never needed to queue. All the staff were most helpful and cheery. The Preluna excellent value for money within easy walking distance to the shops and ferry to Valleta, also there are bus stops in both directions outside the hotel, and transfer time from the airport us only 25 - 30 mins. We will certainly stay at the Preluna again, ;maybe even this autumn.

We have just returned on 24th May from one weeks stay in the Preluna and were very pleased with the room, bed was very comfortable, all amenities, including the indoor pool, steam and sauna, outdoor poor and the restaurant were very good. We were very impressed with the food, no one could complain, there was a huge variety which caters for everyone. Chefs do a great job, as do all the waiters and waitresses. Anthony the bar man was very friendly and helpful also. Prices at the bar extremely good, €3.80 for a large wine and a beer, and a happy hour every evening 6-7 pm. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, and especially a sea view.

Stayed here in May and enjoyed the experience.Hotel staff very friendly with lots of smiles and helpful attitude. We had asked for a quiet room which did put us towards the rear of the hotel but the room was nice enough with plenty of storage space air conditioning and fan.It was good to have a safe in the room but as in many hotels these days there was a fee to pay for use. There was a free fridge great for storing own water and wine. Liked the low bath in the good sized bathroom which enabled the less agile to step in easily for bath or shower.Room service was good and room kept very clean with regular bed sheet changes and towels replaced as required.
We stayed on half board basis and found the food both at breakfast and evening meal to be good and varied . Management were visible along with chefs in dining room .Buffet service was smooth enough with little crowding or queueing and tables were cleared quickly of used dishes .
Location of Hotel was excellent .Easy short walk to shops and ferry with bus stops close to hotel going both north and south of the Island.Good flat walking on the adjacent promenade with lots of seats for resting and a friendly bar opposite the hotel for a view of the sea with a drink.
Entertainment in Hotel low key with piano player in lounge and guest singers in Sky Lounge on top floor. The lady singer on one evening was very good and showed her musical talent by her ability to sing many requests with ease.Drinks prices we felt to be reasonable both alcoholic and tea and coffee.
Thought Hotel to be good value for money comfortable and friendly not for wild parties and guests were in the main middle aged to older people. Both my wife and myself had a good time here and would stay here again when visiting Malta.Well done the staff for showing such friendly and helpful dispositions .

Room Tip: Less road noise at back of Hotel although front rooms have the views and probably bit more modern

Hotel situated in Sliema near Valletta. Reception & lobby very nice, however rooms need some refurbishment (furniture). Rooms were clean, no complains. Breakfast very "British" oriented, majority of the guests was from England. Location of hotel very good, nearby bus station, 10 minutes from Sliema Ferry where most of the excursions start.
For good sleep the windows in the room must be closed because of the noise coming from the street.

Room Tip: Recomend rooms with sea view, land view means you are looking in the wall of neighboured building 4...
