Preluna Hotel & Spa
Ranked #7 of 28 Hotels in Sliema
Reviewed October 20, 2011

We stayed at the preluna the first week in October, and I was uncertain what to expect due to my initial lack of research. Well I needn't had worried. The hotel is situated in the perfect area of Malta, with easy access to the sea front where you can take both boat rides or bus tours. My advice would be to spend the little extra and stay in a superior sea view room. We found the room spacious with your own balcony and wonderful views out across the med. Breakfast was a delight with everything on offer to you. Not only does the hotel house restaurants but you are surrounded by them also! Bus stop just across the road if you feel the need to use it. Although I would recommend not driving in Malta as there appears to be no rules and the sound of a car horn becomes familiar to you soon enough. Staff were exceptionally friendly and for a 5 min discussion with a member of staff in the sky room penthouse about our stay we were offered free drinks! I would personally recommend this hotel to anyone young or old as a well presented place to stay in the most perfect area of Malta. Would I go back? Most defiantly!

The Room was 2 Star standard at the very most, dark with very old furnishing. PLEASE BE AWARE THIS HOTEL DOES NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING DESPITE WHAT THEY TELL YOU.

The Restaurant wasn't too bad, the food was tasty and cooked well most of the time, but there is very little variety.

The sun terrace has the sun all of the day and had 2 hot tubs to chill out in if you want to get out of the sun. The pool is over the road and is a sea water pool, not very nice at all.

The Spa is at the standard of a £30-£40 a month health club back in the UK.

Over all this hotel is at a 2.5-3 star standard. If you want a true 4 star then look else where.

Room Tip: Get a sea view room

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights, and had paid approx £100 pounds per night on a half board basis in a standard twin room . All I can say is this was a room both time and cleaners had forgot. It was a dirty and smelly room . After complaining I got the usual fully booked routine that there were no other rooms available.
So we put up with the poorest 4 star hotel I have ever stopped in . WATCH OUT FOR ROOM 1007 !!
Yes there are nicer rooms there with balconies ect . But they are a lot more money and I thought that we paid more than enough for this standard of accomodation. The food was ok and location was good. But on the whole thought this dated hotel very poor value for money. More like a two star dont be fooled because it has a spa. You have to pay 5 euros a day for the gym aswell.

A very friendly well run hotel where the staff are always willing to help in any way. The food is always of a very high standard, well prepared and served. The hotel commands a fantastic view of the entrance to Grand harbour, nice to relax on the balcony and just take it all in. We have been to the hotel on many occasions and will defineately return there on our next visit. Although the room are a ittle tired, they are always cleaned daily and very well, our thanks to the room service staff.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms in the original part of the hotel offer the best views.

This hotel commands an excellent position in the area of Sliema. Built over 40 years ago it is one one of the most well known amongst regular travellers to Malta. The rooms are tired and need a massive overhault bring them up to date. The Piazza Bar is situated on the ground floor, and has a very homely feel the staff are friendly and very helpful. the restaurant is buffet style and has a varied selection of food for those who book half board basis. As for the entertainment, it varies according to taste but i would recommend that you take a listen on a Monday night in the sky room which can be found on the 13th floor. As for wheelchair suitablity. there is a ramp at the entrance (which is a litlke steep but manageable). if yo want a recommendation to eat elsewhere, then try Tex Mex restaurant about 30 yds away. as for getting about buses are new and all have low floor access. As to wether i would recomment this hotel for a stay the i would say. yes if you like friendliness and just want to lay your head but if you value that bit extra then think again.. the are a lot better hotels on the island, but then again believe me here are even more worse ones

Room Tip: the bets rooms are the ones with side view 3310, 4310 etc not the best view but they are the better...

I have lost count of the many times my family and I have stayed at The Preluna. This year my mum, sister, two nephews and I stayed for two weeks. Again we cannot speak highly enough of the staff who are all very polite and helpful .Our rooms were cleaned regularly by friendly efficient girls. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis but had at least six evening meals, the food is very good with plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed very much the entertainment in the sky room, particularly the beautiful pianist Elizabeth Leonardi. We will be booking our 2012 trip to The Preluna soon.
Once again special thanks to Charles David and Vincent.

Room Tip: Sea view on one of the higher floors but not in The Towers
