“Good but not excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

Pizza at La Vecchia Napoli is good enough for a pizzeria that's outside Italy. It's slightly more expensive than other comparable restaurants in Malta but the quality is ok. Even though it wasn't a busy night at all, we had to wait more than 50 minutes to have our pizzas delivered. The pizza's base was good, soft and well cooked, tomato sauce was a bit too raw, I asked for a Regina Margherita and I was a bit disappointed because I've just got three small pieces of mozzarella, covering partially three slices, all the rest was mostly raw tomato sauce. Other than quantity of toppings the pizza was good enough. The biggest disappointment came with the desserts, in particular the Baba' which was undercooked and really stiff, nothing closer to a real neapolitan baba'. The staff was kind and the overall price was acceptable. Be careful on chilly nights not to dine outside because, at least when we went there, all the heaters were turned off despite the wind and low temperatures. From friday to sunday it's a very good idea to book a table a day in advance.

“Great cuisine, drab environment ”

This restaurant was recommended to us, so on a lazy Sunday decided to lunch there. May I start by saying that booking is a MUST. We were admitted on arrival whilst most people were kept waiting outside! The restaurant has a covered piazzetta, a ground floor area and a higher level; and this is where we dined. Great friendly staff but the place is in a rather poor state! Unpainted mouldy walls are not my idea of a nice place to have a casual Sunday lunch! And the noisy tables seating (I swear) 50 people all trying to interact really leaves you hoarse just to exchange a couple of words with your partner!

Having said all this, I repeat staff are great, food is genuine and not over-prices. And the view is nice too! Would I go again? Yes! But I'll keep my expectations at a slightly lower level.

Pizza was ok. Other dishes bland. Pasta overcooked. Squid rings too greasy. Soup tasted like it was out of the can. Saw other ppl complain about the food as well. Maybe wrong night we picked to go there.
Though locals seem to like the place a lot. It is fully packed everyday. But the enviroment and food should be better

“great pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2014 via mobile

food great quality...beef stew and pizza were fab. only one negative comment...had to wait an hour for our starters, pointed this out to member if staff, no one came to give us a reason as to why. the other tables had come in later than us and all had mains before we even got our starters, bit annoyed at that. but all in all was great food.

“Great Pizza”

Fantastic pizza one of the best on the island. New spacd made available also upstairs and for smaller tables its much more nicer upstairs. Great quality pizza and pasta at reasonable prices. Parking is a bit of a problem but worth the hassle.
