“Ideal Location”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

Stayed here for a week in October. We arrived at the hotel just after 12.00pm with the intention of dropping off our luggage as it was too early to check in. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and checked us in as our room was ready. The suites are very large with a lounge/dining area and seperate bedroom. We found it very useful to have a fridge, kettle etc in the room. The location of the hotel is ideal, one block back from the sea front, close to the bus stops and the ferry to Valetta. Breakast was good, with a choice of cooked, cold meats and cheese, yogurt, fruit, cearel and pastries. We used the small pool area most days for a couple of hours to relax in the sun after sight seeing. Good view of the harbour. There are numerous restuarants close by on the harbour front. La Baguette is good to get a quick take away snack at lunchtime and reasonably priced, turn left when you leave the hotel reception, when you get to the end of the road go right and it is on the corner. I think for the priced we paid it was good value for money. The room was cleaned everyday (floors washed), and fresh towels supplied, Only downside from my point of view was that I would have liked more light in the lounge area .

Stayed here last week and had a fabulous time. Hotel had recently been renovated and was in a good location. If your looking to go out clubbing you'll need to go to St Julian's Bay a day bus tricket is £2.60. Staff were very friendly in the hotel the only downside is we did half board and the food was not that great - expect to see pasta on the menu every night. Wifi was free (bonus) and rooms were cleaned every 2 days!
Would definately stay here again maybe doing self catering though.

Stayed here for 4 nights in mid September. Spacious suite making for a comfortable stay. Got a good rate on alpha rooms with breakfast included. Breakfast was good with cooked and continental breakfast. Small rooftop swimming pool and terrace is adequate. Excellent location set 1 block back from Sliema seafront. Good choice of restaurants with walking distance. Also easy access to Valletta ferry and buses to whole island. Underground car park has 8 spaces allocated for the hotel. This was really useful as road parking can be tight.

This hotel has potential to be outstanding with its large suite rooms, and lovely modern reception. There is nothing hugely wrong with it, but there are lots of niggling small issues that left a rather average impression. Namely: bathroom wasn't terribly clean - dirty floor tiles and dirty shower screen; bathroom smelled of damp and had obviously suffered a flood from above (evident on the ceiling); bath had been broken and glued back together crudely; the lighting in the bedroom is a striplight (quite harsh on an early morning!); no blackout curtains in bedroom (yet there are in the living area?!!); flashing sprinklers on the ceiling of the bedroom (not ideal for a light sleeper like myself!); air con quite noisy; furniture and fittings of questionable quality; writing station but only one sheet of paper and no pens (not that I really had cause to use this!!); fridge wouldn't cool anything and freezer struggled to freeze anything, even on coolest settings; sheets didn't fit the single beds pushed together so came off easily in the night; balconies but no balcony furniture; no peephole on door (this may not seem like a big deal but when you're in the bath and you are expecting your boyfriend to return and you hear a knock on the door and it's the cleaner, it's a good thing I threw on a towel!!!!). On the plus side, it's very spacious, the TV is large and of good quality with a couple of English channels. Overall though, lots of small things to annoy you and nothing good enough about it to warrant a better review!

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for one night before flying home the next day.

We had been staying on Gozo for the week, which we loved, but to be honest Malta was not to our taste.

The hotel does have all the facilites you need if staying in Malta for a self catering break:

Dining area, lounge area with TV, bedroom and bathroom and is very spacious, it also had two balconies.

But there were little things that weren't quite right:

>The bedsheets were just laying on top of the beds, not even tucked in so as you turned in the night the whole thing moved up and off the bed.

>The bedroom looks onto a lot of other rooms windows and pipework so during the night if someone flushed their toilet you could hear it all gushing down the pipes, I was woken up by someone being sick as you could hear everything through the walls.

> The tv has 6 channels all apart from one in foreign, not really worth watching.

>The man on reception when checking in was a bit not interested, but later on the other gentleman with the moustache was very jolly and friendly with us.

The hotel altho quite modern seemed to lack any atmosphere and luckily for us we were only here for one night to serve a purpose, as we were leaving at 5a.m and couldnt eat breakfast we asked if we could take it with us, the hotel kindly gave us food to take with us (strangely sandwiches not a breakfast) but sadly they weren't very nice so we didn't eat them.

It has good intentions this hotel but we weren't quite sold, such a shame!

Pros- the bedrooms are very big. Decked out with new furniture and a nice big tv.
Pool on top floor with a view of the bay.
Good meal from the restraunt below.
Location was good.

Cons- there's alot of hair floating around in the pool and the water in quiet murky. Went up there to relax in the sun but the music starts pumping around 11:30, only good if you like that kind of thing.
My partner sat on the couch and when she put her feet up on the couch there was small shards of glass which cut her foot opened. Went down to tell the manager. He didn't care what happened just asked a guy from the kitchen to come and clean up the blood. Later finding more shards of glass on the couch.
You can hear the water running through the pipes and are quiet loud.

Rocca Nettuno uses the term "Luxury Suites", but that is not quite the category I would have used. The suites are very spacious, they have got balconies and nice furnishing, but the beds (two single beds put together) lacks pillow tops and mattress covers. They put the bed sheets directly on the mattress, and after turning around a few times during sleep, they slip to the side and the mattress is exposed. I find that a bit unhygienic, and also uncomfortable.
When trying to sit up reading, leaning my back to the headboard, the bed slid away.

Also the tiled floor was not very clean. We found dust bunnies in the corners and leftovers from previous guests. There was trash cans in every room, but they were not emptied every day. One of them was not emptied at all during our 7 day stay. The bed sheets were changed every second day.

The breakfast was OK. They served cereal, different kind of breads, coffee, tea, watery juices and English breakfast with scrambled eggs (probably made from powdered eggs), sausages, beans and potatoes.

The location was very good, just a short walk to ferry and busses, restaurants and shops. The swimming pool area on the roof was also very nice. Although the pool was small, it was perfect for cooling down.
