“What a lovely home”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

We went to Casa Bernard as part of a tour organised for us and had little in the way of expectations. How pleasant to find a lovely old Maltese home which had been so sympathetically restored and to be shown around by owners who clearly loved it. It was fascinating to hear its history and the background to so many of the items furnishing it. We felt privileged to be able to share a glimpse of old Malta which is still very much alive and cherished.

“A hidden gem - don't miss it”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

I have been travelling to Malta for 40 years and this was among the best experiences. Not only do you have a private family house dating from the 16th century, packed with family treasures, you also have a private tour from the charming owner of the house who can answer any question you have. Georges took us on our tour and explained about the history of the house and the provenance of the furniture and collections. My brother and sister in law are experts in old English furniture and they were wowed by the contents of the house. It is difficult to find good quality Maltese furniture to see, but this house is an exception.
This house is definitely worth a visit.

“Casa Bernard, Rabat, Malta”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Malta is very good for museums, archaeological sights, and general places of interest, but this is an absolute gem, because you are not going to be in a place with loads of other tourists hogging the sites, but will have an individual small group tour given by a charming Maltese couple showing you their own house!

The furniture and other contents are varied, and the owner is very knowledgable about them.

We were made to feel very welcome, and even extended our stay there by being shown the rear courtyard and the plants in it.

“Casa Bernard Rabat”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

This was the most amazing tour. We were shown round by the lady of the house. She and her husband had spent 30 years renovating the old house and gathering an amazing collection of Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture, inlaid local pieces and small silver items. The place felt very much lived in as well as being a repository of amazing items.

“Fascinating”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

On a recent holiday to Malta I visited this lovely old house jam packed with art and antiques. The owner showed us around and explained the history of the house and the treaures his family had acquired over many generations. Our host was charming and funny. Most people visit Mdina. Rabat is very nearby and it is well worth going to see this fascinating house.
