Its a strange visit, most tourists go to St.Paul's Catacombs. St.Agatha's complex is splendidly 'higardy piggledy' an eclectic mix of all kinds of Malta history. Its all mixed together, bones, skulls, paintings, church relics, early and recent coins and war time notes - its all around you. On the hour they call you to visit the catacombs. The whole area is riddled with these ancient burial places. Our tour guide - ' Joe '(I think) was enthusiastic and could not wait to impart his considerable knowledge. Wonderful passageways with chambers of all sizes scouped out of the limestone. Be warned, if your not good on your feet, able to duck (or your very short) claustrophobic, this may not be for you. But I enjoyed it and I am 6' 3" " !
