This is an amazing building both inside & out. Looks impressive both in daylight & floodlight at night.
They are able to cope with coach loads of visitors & they make everyone feel welcomed.
Very knowledgeable staff & are happy to explain everything.

This church is in the center of Mosta and it is the only thing worth visiting there. The huge dome is very impressive and it is very ornate inside and although you're free to wander about and take pictures, you should be careful not to disturb any serious worshippers going about their devotions. The Interior like many Churches, Cathedrals or Basilicas are just amazing. If you are interested in churches or not it certainly is worth visiting them.

The history of Malta in WW2 is incredible. For such a small island there are so many stories.
Mosta church is beautiful inside but the story is what makes it special. My grandparents still remember it happening - around 300 people were inside the church praying when a bomb was dropped. The bomb exploded through the dome of the church, however it did not go off and no one was hurt. A must-see experience when in Malta.

On our return from Militery Mtarfa we decided to get off the bus in Mosta for a brief vista. My friend had insisted upon taking me to see the Church of St Mary. Although not the original, which was demolished, it was built over and around the original. It is very nice from the outside and truly beautiful inside. I found the view of the grand altar breathtaking. After wandering around to admire the works of art it holds we just sat quietly under the dome. In WW2 a huge bomb penetrated the dome and fell right into the centre of the church during the service but failed to explode which was considered, by the faithful, to be a miracle. The bomb is kept in the sacristy of the church for all to see. Worth a visit but be advised that we found the church closed when we first arrived and it did not reopen until 3 pm. Mosta is on the bus route 31, St Paul's Bay to Valletta. The buses on the island are all run by Arriva who have an excellent website with a route planner and they are very punctual. A seven day bus pass will cost an adult, 12 euros.

The town of Mosta has nothing much to offer, however the church of St. Mary is well worth a visit. The church, as the name suggests is round and really huge, it is beautifully decorated. Probably because of its size and colouring it feels bright and airy unlike most of heavily decorated churches on the island.
The story is that a bomb fell through the church's roof during the war. Luckily for the congregation that was in the midst of prayer the bomb did not go off. Apparently the unexplored bomb is still at the altar (we could not see it as the Sunday prayers were on during our visit)
