Malta is full of magnificant churches and cathedrals, all richly decorated but a visit to the Mosta Dome is a must....its indeed the 3rd/4th largest standing dome in the world which was been luckily preserved after being damaged by a war bombing of WW2, making it worth a visit.

Mosta Dome was the last stop of our full day sightseeing. Even being tired couldn't diminish the impression of this magnificent masterpiece of architecture.
We were lucky to be able to see it inside between the two ceremonies that took place at that moment.
We heard a most incredible story about a bomb that hit the Dome during the war and didn't explode! And then we entered the church... so divine, so full of light!!! Then you believe it all!

On a trip to Malta you do get a bit "full up" on churches & cathedrals - but this place is something worth seeing. The dome is stunning & the red fabric walls if the circular interior take your breath away. Don't forget to go see the miracle bomb in the little gift shop! Its also a donation only entrance so a real bargain

Make sure ladies shoulders are covered, though shawls are on loan at church entrance. It's a beautiful church with an impressive dome roof, which survived a German bomb in WW2.

It may only be worth 20 minutes of your time, but the Rotunda is stunning. Its sheer enormity is hard to comprehend, given that it was built 180 years ago. The frescoes around the sides of the Church are also rich and worth some attention. There are plenty of buses from Valletta, which take about 25 minutes, and Mosta is easy to combine with a visit to the Palazzo Parisio & Gardens in Naxxar.
