Owner description: Completed in 1860, this church has the third-largest unsupported dome in Europe.

This church is astonishing. As is its existence, testament to the deep religious beliefs of such a small population.

We visited early on a bright sunny spring morning. The decorative façade was resplendent in the sunshine with the lovely architectural detail so clear. Moving to the interior was awe-inspiring. The vastness of the circular form is truly impressive. The colourful ornamentation throughout is very attractive as is the magnificent dome.

Whenever we visit Malta we always make a return visit to St. Mary Church, In Mosta, The Dome, or Rotunda, as its locally known.
This is a must if your visiting the island, it is an impressive building and once inside it is trully amazing. The building is full of history, and so peaceful and serene, and you will, after your time inside find out about the WWII miracle. Something to make you go and visit.
As i said full of history and charm. Well worth a visit, even if your dressed inapropriatly, someone at the door will let you know and give you the right attire to be in.
Entry is free, and the shop has reasonably priced souvineers. All that go usually leave a donation, mainly for the upkeep of the building.
If your visiting Malta please go, you wont be dissappointed

It was a very interesting visit to a beautiful church with quite an extraordinary story which they call 'The miracle of Mosta'. There is a replica of the 500 kilo bomb (as the original one was detonated at sea) in the souvenir shop to the side of the altar. Not much else in Mosta but well worth a visit.

If you are passing through it's worth dropping by. Lovely church with a history. Mosta is instantly forgettable and not a tourist highlight by any degree of the imagination. There isn't even a decent cafe around although there are a few cages that do their best, although quite badly.

There are over 300 churches on the island of Malta, but the Rotunda in Mosta is one of the most fascinating and beautiful places I know. It's worth going in, sitting down and just soaking up the atmosphere of the place - watch the tourists file in and out with their guides; watch the locals go about their day-to-day church business and admire the ornate artwork and magnificent dome. See if you can spot where the bomb came through the roof during WWII.
