It is free to enter Mdina.
There is a small tourist office just as you enter on the left hand side where you can collect a free map.
Just outside you will be asked if you want a horse and cart ride. This was far to expensive at around €35 in my view. I believe you get a more memorable visit by strolling through the streets where eventually you will reach the view point. The view is amazing as ou can see for miles. There are several museums you can visit but I did not feel the need to do this. There is a cathedral which you can pay €5 to go into and this includes a museum. Throughout there are small shops to buy souvenirs.
Don't forget to stop for afternoon tea at the Fontanella Tea Garden next to the view point. A lovely tidy, clean city not to be missed.
