It is free to enter Mdina.
There is a small tourist office just as you enter on the left hand side where you can collect a free map.
Just outside you will be asked if you want a horse and cart ride. This was far to expensive at around €35 in my view. I believe you get a more memorable visit by strolling through the streets where eventually you will reach the view point. The view is amazing as ou can see for miles. There are several museums you can visit but I did not feel the need to do this. There is a cathedral which you can pay €5 to go into and this includes a museum. Throughout there are small shops to buy souvenirs.
Don't forget to stop for afternoon tea at the Fontanella Tea Garden next to the view point. A lovely tidy, clean city not to be missed.

Un-touched, beautiful senic and well worth a visit. It is a shame that there are so many cars about in the evening. I understand that the city has been used as a film set in the past, I can see why.

We have been in Malta more than 10 times during the last 20 years and every time we did not mist a visit to this beautiful old town and we still love it! Every time we enjoy this magical place, It is absolute a must when visiting Malta.

I've been twice now to this beautiful old town and loved it more the second time. Steeped in history this is a magical place, full of fantastic buildings quaint shops and cafes and stunning views. Lovely Mdina glass is from here as well. An absolute must when visiting Malta.

We spent a few hours in the historic capital of Malta, and whilst it's architecturally well-preserved, it is quite like a theme park - lots of museums, touristy shops & restaurants, and not much else. It's certainly worth visiting the Cathedral Museum & Cathedral, and the view over the old walls is panoramic, and definitely worth a few piccies.
