“Very ethnic ambience”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

We reserved a table for Saturday night, and although the restaurant was busy, our table was in a quiet spot. The waiters were friendly and professional. I fell in love with the ambiance of the place and the decor which gives off the feeling of being transported into an far off ethnic land.

The reservations option via Facebook is quite convenient.

The menu caters different cuisines, and on our visit we opted for Indian. We didn't take any starters (which was a good choice since we ended very full!) The Beef Madras and Lamb Rogan Josh were delicious! The meat was really tender and the sauces perfect! We had Pilau rice which was ok, and garlic naan. We also ordered another type of bread with onions: Kulcha, which was very good. As dessert we had Kulfi Malai which is a thick very sweet icecream. I was quite disappointed however because I looked forward to try Gulap Jamoon and after ordering I was told that they did not have it.

The dining experience was satisfying and romantic. We will surely visit again!

“Something different in concept”
Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

We booked 4 days in advance and were lucky enough to be in time even though we needed a table for 2. We were greeted upon entry and seen to our table. The waiter explained in broken English how the system works. Luckily my partner had already visited so she knew how the system worked since I barely understood the guy. In such cases I take it as part of the package with a smile. However all the staff made their best to give a service with a smile, something which is not taken for granted in malta. We ordered the food and wine and waited for about 15 minutes before the starter was on the table. The food is very nicely presented and tastes as good as it looks. After the starter came the main course and I opted for a lamb stew cooked and presented in a tagine. No words to describe the flavours. The restaurant manager stopped by each table and made sure to listen to what his customers had to say. When it came to deserts, I went for a traditional Arabian sweet. To my surprise the waiter brought the dessert with sparklers. I had only mentioned that it was my birthday and yet he took the initiative to spice things up a bit. The sweets were not something I would go for a second time probably because I didn't quite like the type of sweets. I wanted to try them out to see whether I would change my impression. Nothing to do with the chef though. We asked for the bill and it was definitely worth the try. I will make sure to return sooner rather than later. Next time I will take my own wine and have it served by the staff. This is a practice which is not common in malta but I guess any wine lover can appreciate. Even If you don't get your own wine. You can choose from their well selected wine list. All you pay is the whole sale price plus a nominal corking fee. See you soon :)
