“St. Paul's Cathedral Museum”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

For 5 euros, you get access to the cathedral, the museum, and the exhibition rooms at Palazzo DePiro. If you want to see the cathedral, you have to buy this ticket.

The museum itself is okay. It has an interesting collection that covers two floors in a lovely old building. My frustration with it was that some of the displays had no explanation as to the contents of the case. However, the picture gallery has some interesting works and there is an extensive coin collection. Coins aren't my thing, but that room seems to be well laid out with a fair amount of detail about the displays, so enthusiasts will likely enjoy it.

I'm not sure this is a "must see" when in Mdina, but those pressed for time could target whatever collection(s) within the museum that interests them. If you want to see the whole museum, you should be able to comfortably do so in an hour.

Not fully accessible to the mobility impaired, but if you can handle a flight of stairs, you should be okay. Moving about within the museum is easy.

“St. Paul,s Mdina.”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

A large collection of artifacts including a large number of coins dating back to AD 05. There are many paintings from Italian art schools and silverware belonging to the church or donated to the museum. It was built about 400 years ago in the time of the Knights of St. John.

Similar to St Johns in Valletta and equally beautiful. Amazing marble floors. Altar paintings by Mattia Preti. Oak carvings. Well worth a visit.

“You can see who had the money”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

From the outside, the co-cathedral gives nothing away as to the opulence inside. It is one of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen. The gold is everywhere and takes your breath away. The adjacent museum houses a very impressive collection of art by Caravaggio and others as well as robes worn by the priests and is well worth visiting.

“See with the Cathedral”

When you buy a ticket to the Mdina cathedral you also have admission to the museum. It houses a collection of gifts and relics from the church and is worth the short time it takes to visit.
