Review of Coogi's Restaurant

Coogi's Restaurant
Ranked #5 of 23 Restaurants in Mdina
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: $14 - $39
Description: Grape vine covered courtyards, home grown herbs, multi coloured lights, and a myriad of wind chimes give a flirtatious wink of what's to come. You feel like a special guest in your best friend's home. If you have visited Coogi's before then you surely don't need reminding that the courtyards, bastions and internal medieval rooms are simply magical when bathed in soft candle light. Dining beneath the orange trees, accompanied by the tinkling of wind chimes, and the sound of running water is to be transported to a peaceful place which is all to easy to forget still exists here in Malta.

On a visit to Mdina we came across Coogi's and decided to lunch here! It has lovely interior but also a beautiful terrace. Pizzas were very nice and the beers and kir royales were very nice! Prices were reasonable and the staff were delightful! Icing on the cake was the terrace with spectacular views across Malta towards valletta and st Julian and much more! Just gorgeous! Really pleasant lunch! Highly recommend!

This was a great find within the city walls of Mdina. The food looked great although we only went for drinks around lunch time. There is a big indoor place, but the joy is being seated outside with the vine trees growing overheard or in the back-court yard.
It’s a great way to get away from the crowds.
It’s only a 35 min bus ride from Valletta bus station. The town and the restaurant are well worth the visits.

We visited here with family. Such a delight! It has THE prettiest courtyard ever, a lovely restaurant inside and a small roof terrace with excellent views. Staff were lovely. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Having enjoyed a number of visits to Mdina and had coffee in Coogi’s my wife and I decided (after studying the menu) to have a meal there while our family visited their friends in Valletta. We requested a table on the “battlements” but as these were in demand had to accept an earlier time than we would normally have liked. I was anticipating being hurried through our meal to make way for more customers but that was not the case and we were allowed to relax between courses and linger over coffee. The waiters were attentive but not impatient and waited until we indicated that we were ready to order, which took considerable time due to the extent of the menu and interesting options.
The location was excellent and the view took up our attention while we waited for our meal, as the light faded and features were thrown into sharp relief the landscape continued to capture our attention until we tasted our food. Each course was attractively presented and full of flavours, having chosen different options we enjoyed tasting each other’s courses as they arrived. The evening was topped off by a fire work display and the lights decorating Mosta church, this being the eve of celebrations for Santa Maria. Even without this light show our evening would have been memorable for the food and service we enjoyed at Coogi’s

Mdina is a walled city in the middle of the small island that is Malta; from the top of that wall, most of the island is visible, and it makes a great view in its spring lushness. Coogi's is built into the wall and has 3 dining areas: in a courtyard, indoors or properly outside with the view; we arrived for a late lunch and had a drink waiting for a table to come free and were delighted to get one on the wall. Food included generously cheezy pizzas, black ravioli filled with fish, and asparagus risotto; all great value.
