“Fabulous fish meal - very, very fresh.”

The fishing village of Marsaxlokk has lots of fish restaurants, so there's plenty to choose from. However, this one is special. The staff are really nice, and make you feel like you are a guest in their home. We ate outside, overlooking the fishing boat that brought in our supper just 2 hours previously. There's no menu, they tell you - and show you - what they have. I know this is a sweeping statement, but all of it looked (and tasted) great, so you wouldn't make a wrong choice. The accompanying potatoes and veg are fabulous too. Afterwards the guy brought us the tastiest watermelon, which he chopped up before us and passed around. It was delicious, and the perfect end to the meal. We are definitely going here again when we next visit Malta. Well done.

This is more of a kitchen with a bar attached – and that's a good thing. The menu changes daily according to what ingredients are available, and the vernacular approach to cooking results in real Maltese food. The service is friendly and flexible (for instance I was able to ask the chef to cook me spaghetti with cuttlefish – just brought in) – and the prices are affordable throughout. It's very hard to come out of The Rising Sun with anything but a full stomach.

WENT THERE LAST WEEK,,,you are given a tray of fish to choose from. It was superbly cooked and very resonable...If it is a nice day sit outside and watch the small boats bobbing along in the sea. Service is ok. loos clean...give this place a try. you will not be disappointed

This family run restaurant is friendly and not costly. There is no menu you have to ask what is Michael (owner) cooking on the day, usually there is a choice of 5 dishes all freshly cooked with local produce and fresh fish. There is nothing fancy if two or three have chosen the same it is served out in the pot and you help yourself. The friendliness of the whole family and home made cooking is the whole atmosphere to make your meal worthwhile. Open only for lunch.
