My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant a couple of weeks ago.. the food is not great and the service is terrible. We started with an order for a Campari orange and Campari soda.. the waitress brought out two Campari orange; we pointed this out to her and she simply said that the 'barman must have put the soda in with the orange juice'.. ?!? she didn't offer to change it.. thankfully it seemed that the barman had actually just made two Campari orange.. we didn't bother complaining and drank them. We then asked for a bottle of Isis.. it was warm! We asked for an ice bucket.. they came out with a wine cooler.. we mentioned that the wine cooler would be great if the wine was already cold but in this instance we needed an ice bucket with ice and water... they said they didn't have one.. so we settled for the ice cooler with a couple of ice cubes on the bottom and drank our wine.. (this is when we should have just left!!)..

We ordered pasta with rizzi and one with lobster for starter.. edible but given the prices, we expected a bit more.. the lobster sauce did not really taste of lobster because the other ingredients overpowered it.. We then had a fish platter (tourists: watch out for the deals on the board.. the waitress told us that it was specifically for tourists and that the fish was frozen packet fish! so we opted for the more expensive fresh fish platter). The octopus was mushy and had some rather horrible bits still attached to it.. the mussels were so overcooked that they shrivelled up and were very salty.. prawns were ok..

Icing on the cake.. as we finished our meal.. a waiter came round to collect our table numbers in a big silver ICE BUCKET!!! He made no attempt to collect our dirty plates.. we were just fed up at this point.. so we asked for the bill.. the waiter had to ask us what our table number was!!! (Maybe you shouldn't have taken the table numbers away!!!!) We asked to speak to the manager but noticed that he was occupied with the table next to us who were also complaining; he didn't seem very sympathetic... we didn't bother..

And all this for 87 Euro.. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

If you like seafood gente di mare the is best seafood restaurant on the island. Both my wife and I had salmon and it was great. This is the third time we went there. The management changed but the food and atmosphere remain the same. Keep it up

Took visitors here and won't be going again. Waitress handled the top of our cutlery with hands so had to wipe them. Didn't have the wine we ordered, no beer, no sprite, ordered home made burgers but def were not home made.

CHECK YOUR BILLl at Gente di Mare, Marsaxlokk! We were there last recently - food is good but service is a total disaster. Waiting staff was going in circles trying to find which table ordered what! The cheery on the cake was served to us when we asked for the bill and upon checking it we found that we were charged for a glass of wine and a pint of Coke which we did not consume. We told the person who seemed to be the owner of the restaurant and all we got was "Yes, sure. I knew you had some extra items on your bill!" - no apologies, no nothing! And pardon me, if you knew why didn't you check before giving us the bill? If we hadn't bother to check the bill, we would have been charged (robbed) for items we did not consume - so make sure your CHECK YOUR BILL at Genti di Mare!!
