“Go for a drink and enjoy the atmosphere”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Very well located for people watching and harbourview. Many people enjoying a drink. We had an early dinner and waited for more than 1 hour for the food. Turned out this was due to the oven having to heat up - but no one told us about this until we asked. After 1 hour the omelette showed up - and then after 5-10 minutes finally the pizza. The pizza was large and with a lot of toppings - but not too much taste. Omellette quite basic, but tasteful.
Maybe we were unlucky - but would mainly recommend place for drinks and not eating.

“Slow but Great Value”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

During a two week stay in Marsaxlokk, we ate here a couple of times. The menu is very extensive which suggests use of freezer and microwave. Then again, there's nothing inherently wrong with that, because most meats and more robust fish like swordfish retain most of their flavour and texture after defrosting. But they have some fresh fish on the menu too and these are still some 20-25% cheaper than elsewhere. Personally, one of the joys of being on vacation in a warm climate is eating "al fresco". Nearly all of the restaurants in Marsaxlokk have outside tables, and even the more upmarket places still charge the same price as indoors. Al fresco doesn't lend itself to fine dining, so there is little point in paying extra, unless the food is significantly better. In our experience, there was little or no difference between the food in any of the restaurants in Marasaxlokk. (excepting Il Tartarun, which had no outside tables and was booked out most nights - but about twice as expensive as most other places).

Service was slow in Duncan's, but the waiter and waitresses were invariably friendly and smiling (not so elsewhere). I had a brief chat one morning with one of the owners and he seemed a really nice man. He also appeared to me very nice to his staff and that appears to have transferred to customer service. The food was OK too, not gourmet, but just as good as most other places despite being 20-25% cheaper.

They appeared to have an extensive children's menu too, which explained why it was so popular with local families at the week-end. A definite recommendation from me if you just want simple food at very reasonable prices.

“Swordfish to die for!”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

5 of us visited Duncan's during the fMarsaxlokk feast weekend, so everywhere was busy, which is why I made allowances for service being slightly slow. However, the food quality more than moad up for the wait. My wife said her swordfish was the best she had ever had - as she is Maltese herself, she has eaten a lot of this.
I made the same comment about my Tuna - it was Exceptional.
Our grandchildern were not so adventurous, spaghetti bolognese, fish fingers etc wre their choice, but they obviously enjoyed theirs as well.

We will definitely be returning for more on future visits.

“good food and cheap”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Been here a few times on Sundays mostly, because of the out door market where you can find almost whatever you want.Very good for fish dishes since it's caught daily by the local fisherman.I certainly recommend it.

“Avoid eating here. Took us hours to place our order”
Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

Went there on a Friday evening. One person seeing to all the tables. An impossible task. Getting our food took ages.

Food was normal. Nothing special. Best thing if u r coming to Marsaxlokk is to avoid this place or stop just for a drink
