The view from your table is very special; the young lady who waited on us very friendly; the fish well cooked and adequate, but........the rusty tin chairs and tables resemble a "boy scouts" hut.
There are no hot vegetables on offer - just salad. Two of the fish on offer had already run out by 12.15pm!!
Amazingly, for a fish restaurant, no tartare sauce at all. On asking chef for some, the reply was "we don't do that!!"
The prices of the fish are those you'd expect at a "top of the range" fine dining establishment in Malta.
So, all in all, not an "unhappy" experience - but nothing very special either.

Mgarr ix xini is probably one of the nicest bays in Gozo - the beach, cliffs and rock formation are truly impressive! Most people travel by car which could be a bit of a problem due to lack of parking and narrow roads. There is also the option to trek along the coast from the Mgarr Gozo Harbour and it will take you roughly an hour and an easy walk. This is a good option if you are travelling from Malta without a car!

The Mgarr ix-Xini Kiosk is also the best spot for fresh fish - It is a greasy spoon type of restaurant and do not expect silver service but by far the best food although rather pricey! There are no menus and it is only fresh fish of the day on the menu. If you go there at peak times in summer you need to be prepared for a long wait or simply place your order and go for a swim!

The place is run by the owners - the cook and his wife who are really nice people! You will see from the attached pic that the cooking area is is outside/open air and the cook goes about his work in full view of the guests!

Highly recommended!

Mgarr ix - Xini is a beautiful bay just a 10 minutes drive from Mgarr harbour.
The place is known as a great diving and a snorkelling location. It has a very small beach, so in the summer can get busy but if you visit in late May, you may find here a very relaxing time.
Just a few meters from the sea, there is a small restaurant that serves a heavenly great food.
A really fresh fish and shellfish is prepared in a very simple and special way; just a la plancha, in the foil with a bit of sea water, lemon, orange and few drops of olive oil. This keeps the natural flavours of the fish very intact and simply deliscious.
But this tiny kitchen can also offer you a nice home made burger or a quail prepared also on the plancha, accompagned by a small salad and french fries.
If you are afraid of driving a narrow roads just on the edge of the cliff, you can also reach Ix Xini by foot. A walk from the Mgarr harbour will take you an hour and the views will take your breath away.

Well what can I say I am a professional seafood outlet and I visited the seafood Resturant here last week WOW best I have ever had and I am a seafood junkie I had baby octopus on the grill beautifully cooked to perfection soft and succulent accompanied with a chilled Sauvignon Blanc! Followed by grilled seabass on the bone fresh and again cooked to perfection all accompanied by green salad and rustic crusty bread
Then a snooze on the beach before we sadly had to go I asked to buy the business! My dream place
