“An excellent holiday with friends”
Reviewed May 29, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We had a fantastic stay, helped by brilliant weather, particularly for the end of May. The highlight of the villa has to be the pool area which is large and well furnished complete with BBQ. The pool is heated and gets the sun for the vast majority of the day. The house is well furnished and set over 3 levels, the 3rd bedroom is in a separate building by the pool. All the rooms are a good size and have their own bathrooms.

Xaghra itself is a really relaxing village with a number of restaurants around the square (there are about 4 restaurants as well as a cafe and bar). There are also plenty of shops to get all the basics (though it's worth noting that these will close for portions of the afternoon). Oleander's restaurant was a particular favourite and we can't recommend the fresh fish of the day enough.

Xaghra is also home to Ggantija, one of the oldest known man made structures in the world and Ramla bay (the largest sandy beach on Gozo) is near by,

Gozo itself has a number of places to visit including the stunning Azure Window and Comino is only a short boat ride away with the Blue Lagoon. The ferry back to the mainland is only around 25mins and runs every 45mins so a trip back to the mainland is easily done.

Thank you for your lovely review. You are quite right that Malta, the busiest of the archipelago, is conveniently just a short ferry ride away.
As you say the private rear pool area is very spacious, sunny and the heated pool really makes a difference to the enjoyment of guests.
Xaghra square is very well placed just 5 minutes walk from the farmhouse and the restaurants are all very good.
Being an island, the fresh fish of the day is always worth taking as it will have literally been caught that morning!
Very pleased that you had a comfortable and enjoyable holiday and hope to see you again in the future

“Beautiful”
Reviewed January 2, 2016 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed as a family of 3 generations in this gorgeous traditional farmhouse during August 2015. The accomodation is very comfortable and the huge courtyard and pool are a fantastic area to relax both day and night. The pool lights up at night and the outdoor furniture is very good quality. The traditional stone walls make for a slightly dusty feel but the modern kitchen is well equipped and Catherine pops in to clean and change the towels regularly (washing them in the farmhouse whilst she cleans). The main square of Xaghra is a very short walk away with a choice of restaurants (Dvenue being our favourite - book a table on the roof terrace) making it very easy to cater for our large family, although we did use the small grocery shops also and cooked some lovely meals at the farmhouse. There is a well stocked mini market across the road from the farmhouse and several others within 10-15 mins walk or if you do hire a car, there is a large Lidl about 5 minutes drive. Driving is very easy in Gozo although some of the roads are very steep and more suited to the locals. We hired a car for a few days from Mayo Car rentals (highly recommended and also provide excellent transfer services) and were able to visit all the attractions of the island and travel over to Malta. We also took a day trip to sail around Gozo and Comino which was fantastic - booked on the street in marsalforn with Mayo again (they have an excursion office opposite the beach as well as the main one in Victoria) and it was very reasonable. Lunch was provided and our Captain gave us all the information about the sights, made us lunch and lead a swim into the caves for those brave enough, to jump off rocks and snorkel. Couldnt recommend this day out more. We were lucky enough to be on Gozo during one of its festivals and were treated to fireworks, performances in Xaghra square and a fantastic celebration in the capital, Victoria, complete with marching bands and horse racing! We would recommend experiencing the festivals for yourselves. Without a car, the bus stops are nearby but exploring on foot is also something you shouldn't miss. We walked to the temple and also all the way to Marsalforn, which were both easy enough but make sure you explore the little streets of Xaghra on the doorstep, particularly the caves and the viewpoint looking out at the Citadel in Victoria, just a short walk from the farmhouse, which was spectacular by day and even better on a balmy evening. It is very hot in August and without air conditioning at the farmhouse, it can be a little tricky to sleep despite the fans available in all the rooms. We used the main house and the annexe as there were 7 of us but often we found it most comfortable to sit outside after dark (or even sleep on a sunbed on occasion). Everyone in Gozo is very friendly and helpful - Ginette, Tony and Catherine included. They could not do enough to make our stay relaxing and comfortable. We fell in love with Gozo and Xaghra and will definitely be back.

Thank you for your lovely thoughtful review. Gozo has a knack of beguiling her visitors and it is truly a stunningly beautiful island. I agree with you to be sure to walk and explore, one can miss little gems if you do all your travelling by car.

It does get very hot in August and September for sure and certainly with Gozo being so safe it makes sense to leave all the windows open at night for air circulation as all the windows have insect nets attached to them. I have looked into air con for the bedrooms, but it is very hard to find a way to do it without having 'ugly' units on the outside of such a beautiful heritage farmhouse. Nevertheless I take your feedback onboard.

I am so very pleased that you loved staying at the beautiful Razzett Ta' Marija and look forward to see you again.

Ginette.

“A nice and relaxing holiday !”
Reviewed November 6, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

The house is old and traditional with the typical thick walls, but with modern Equipment which makes it very comfortable to live there. The courtyard is very nice with a few plants and the pool, which had a very constant and warm temperature of around 28 deg C. We enjoyed our Holidays very much, also the Kids liked it a lot.

Thank you for your lovely review. We have tried hard to provide a fusion of the old and traditional in the 300 year old farmhouse and also all the modern conveniences and comforts for contemporary living. The pool is beautifully warm and sits comfortably within the lovely large and sunny deck area, perfect for young and old alike. We are glad you had a super holiday and hope to see you again in the future. Ginette.

“Fanatastic accomodation”
Reviewed October 6, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The photos of the farmhouse almost do not do it total justice, the accommodation is fantastic, easily spacious enough for our group of 8. The outside area with pool is huge and we spent several evenings dining there, making use of the BBQ. Ginette the owner was really helpful with any advice prior to our visit. We were getting married on the island and her local knowledge was much appreciated. Tony and Katie (housekeepers) were also fantastic.
The village square is a 5 min walk and full of character. I would not hesitate to return, hope to see you again!!

Thank you so much for your lovely review and many congratulations on your wedding!! Gozo is a beautiful island on which to take your vows and I am so glad that Razzett Ta' Marija was part of your special memories. You are right that it is hard to envisage the size of the property inside from the photos and it does easily sleep 7 (even 8 in your case!). The back deck area is enormous, plenty of room to spread out and a choice of sun and shade at all times of the day. Xaghra square is adorable and has everything you need just 5 minutes away, yet far enough away for you to be quiet and tranquil at the farmhouse. Yes, I am very lucky to have Tony and Catherine, they are lovely people and make our guests very comfortable every time. Once again congratulations and hope to see you again next year. Ginette.

Thank you so much for your helpful review. I am glad that you found the farmhouse to your expectations and hope very much it gave you some solace from the feast activities. The feast of 8 September is the biggest on Gozo and the last one of the season and so I can imagine how busy and vibrant it became. It's not for everyone though to be fair and I shall take your feedback on board and update my details on the Holiday Lettings website so that future guests can make an educated choice on this week. I hope it didn't upset your stay too much and hope to see you again next year. Ginette.

“A great place for a family holiday”

As a grandmother I was delighted to be able to share a holiday with my son and family in this beautiful traditional farmhouse. It provided a very comfortable venue and was central to all parts of the island. The bus services provided easy access to the main beaches. The property has a swimming pool that is well maintained by the local couple who look after the property. My one caution for those staying with toddlers is that pool is over 6' deep and has no guard fence and is therefore accessible at all times.

Thank you for your lovely review, I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Razzett Ta' Marija. Having the garden annexe really does make it a perfect location for extended families and also teenagers. As you say due to the proximity of the pool I don't recommend the garden annexe for younger children. The public transport is very good on Gozo and this little island means that you are never far from the beach, the lovely Xaghra square being only 500 metres up the road. We hope to see you again next year. Ginette.

“Great stay, lovely town!”
Reviewed September 11, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed at this lovely old farmhouse as a family of three adults and two small children ( 4 and 7). The facilities were lovely and clean, and Tony and Catherine, who are in charge of looking after the property were lovely and very helpful, sorting out any issues we had almost immediately. The welcome pack was very nice and handy when you first arrive.

The pool was a godsend in the 34 degree heat, and the kids were in it all day and sometimes night! There is plenty of outside space to lounge around in the sun and there are loungers, unbrellas and beach towels provided.

The farmhouse is a short walk to the centre square where they have a variety of shops and restaurants (Our favourite lunch place was Cafe Reale- try the green smoothies!) and as others have said, the local bus service is very efficient. As long as you find out the times of the bus, it will turn up, unless you are there during the Feast preparations, when they close off the square and they take a random other route without warning!

Overall, this is a great location and a great place to stay.

Thank you for your lovely review and I thought you caught the atmosphere of the farmhouse and the vibrant feast season very nicely! The Welcome pack of local goods is certainly tasty and just perfect to get you started after your travels. The outdoor space is very large with both sun and shade to suit all your needs. Cafe Reale is indeed very good and the service to match. We hope to see you again next year. Ginette.
