“Fantastic Relaxing Holiday!”
Reviewed September 11, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We very much enjoyed our stay at Arzella Farmhouse in July of this year. We stayed in Malta for a week beforehand and found the tranquility of Gozo very relaxing. The people and the environment were just lovely! We are a family of five, including two teens and a 9yr old. We were there probably around the hottest time of they year so we did have trouble keeping cool at night but we coped (just!) with the air con in the main bedroom and our youngest came through to sleep with us on the camp bed in the same room. The teens put up with the fans in the other rooms. What really makes this property special is it's space and symapthetic conversion, it is a beautiful space and once you shut the front door behind you, it was so lovely to be able to chill out, eveyone had enough room to get some space indoors and outdoors, more so than we have at home! The outside space was gorgeous, pool just perfect and we enjoyed eating outside. There was building works going on next door but they didn't seem to be very busy - perhaps too hot? We also seemed to arrive slap bang in the middle of religious festivies which all ended up being part of the fun - there were fireworks every day and every night happening in the villages around us! Coming from Edinburgh we thought we were pretty used to fireworks but this was on a different scale! I should also mention the neighbouring cockerel who delighted in waking us all up early morning, I'm not a great sleeper so I did slightly dread trying to sleep before he started up and then keep asleep once his pal started to crow back to him, but I did take this on board before we booked and I'm sure normal sleepers would find it less tricky. We found getting into the village easy, during the summer they do a history re-enactment in the village square on Wednesdays so that was fun to watch. The cafes were nice although the village square works were still ongoing (since last year?) so that did put a slight damper on sitting there in the evenings. The bus stops were not far and we managed to get round the island easily using the buses. We did the open top bus tour and Ramla bay - both great fun. And you have the caves nearby - worth seeing. We would love to come and stay again if we ever manage to save up for another family abroad holiday, thank you everyone for helping us have a great holiday!

“Lovely property”
Reviewed August 1, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This is a typical Gozo farmhouses, well laid out and nicely positioned in the village.
The kitchen is small but has all amenities you need.
A classical stairs with skylight leads to the second floor with 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 luxury bathrooms, of which one is en-suite. The main bathroom is a nice size with a nice shower and plenty of hot water available.
The master bedrooms has a double bed, with the en-suite . You need to note this is the only bedroom with A/C. The A/C is an additional cost of 5 euro a day which is paid to the agent in return for a key which will operate the system. The on suite has a bath with shower taps but the shower can not be hung to use as a stand up shower. The balcony looks out of the rear garden and pool with views over the village to the hills beyond.
The second bedroom (with balcony) has a double bed, ceiling fans and free standing fan. Hair dryer attached to at the wall. This is the only one and people from other rooms would have to come to this room to use the hair dryer. This room looks out over the street.
Third bedroom has two single beds ceiling fan and free standing fan. It also looks out over the street.
The out door area has two dinning areas and plenty of shade. This is a nice pool allowing for one to relax easily all day without having to leave the property. The property came with only two sun beds but now has four which were needed for the teenagers.
The house also has a free Wireless network ( code protected) with full property coverage. It has a TV and DVD player in the lounge.

The village has shops and restaurants within walking distance. Should you need a bigger supermarket a cab to and from Lidil would cost around 25 euros.

Although the owner is not local the property is managed by a local agent Frank Salts in Victoria. They were with out doubt top notch and dealt the minor issues I had promptly.

I can say without doubt this is a property I would return to. Its self contained and a good village location I would also be happy to stay here without a hire car arranging transfer through Frank Salt. If hiring a car you have parking space outside.

“Beautiful farmhouse in Xaghra”

Our Family had a very pleasant stay at Arzella, a week in July 2014, we are 2 adult and 3 teenagers and the house has a perfect size for a large family or a group of friends.
The house itself was very spacious and nice decorated with good beds and well function bathrooms and kitchen with all amenities. We think that the house was even nicer than the pictures shows.
The garden and the pool was a reel scoop, we spent almost all our time in the garden or in the pool from early morning to late evening and there always was the opportunity for either sun or shade during the day and in the night there was electric light tastefully placed around in the garden.
In general the house and garden was very clean and well maintained and the wireless internet worked fast and without any trouble.
We never met Frans who owns the house but had a very good and trustworthy experience around communications and payment after the booking. The communication was handed over to a management agency and it worked perfect. We arrived in the middle of the night and key collection and other practical things during the week was handled in a very friendly and professional way of the management agency.
Gozo has a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere and Xaghra the small village where the house is situated in the outskirts of the town ten minutes' walk from the
main square has everything that you need for daily shopping in the morning hours and a nice selection of restaurants. In Victoria there is a very big Lidl supermarket as well.
Both Gozo and Arzella we would certainly like to come back to another time and always give our best recommendations.
