Owner description: OPEN MONDAY - SUNDAY from 09.00 Till 17.00Hrs (last admission at 16.30Hrs). Ta' Kola Windmill in Xaghra, Gozo, is one of the few surviving windmills on the Maltese Islands dating back to the Knights' Period. Its origins go back to 1725 during the magistracy of Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena (1722-36). Nowadays, the windmill houses one of the largest known collections of tools, some of which were manufactured by the last miller who lived inside the mill. The site offers a glimpse into the traditional rural life of the locals during the past centuries.

“Nice, but unspectacular”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

We were there because there was only a combination ticket for the Ggantija Temple and the Ta'Kola Windmill. Compared with the Temple, the windmill is rather small, modern and (since there was only the tower, no fan blades) rudimentary. The museum inside is nice and informative, but not necessary what visitors of the prehistoric temple are looking for.

“Included in the megalitic temple tour ticket.”

A nice attraction depicting the 18th-19th century Gozoan life . It is a very pretty windmill just overshadowed by so many fantastic attractions during our trip.

“Come here if its raining”

We had a look round the windmill. We were disappointed that we couldnt see the workings of it as it is being restored. It passes time but not the most rivoting attraction.

“Curious example of the Gozo's everyday life in 18-19th century”
Reviewed April 7, 2014

The visit to the windmill was included into the ticket to the megalithic temple, so we were a kind of "obliged" to see it. The windmill was partly closed (for reconstruction), but to visit it was really interesting. Nothing special, but nice example of the everyday life in a village like this, with authentic objects of 200 years old in the exposition.
